Apparently, because they eat more, it makes them more nervous than usual. Will they stop eating more at some point? Hopefully but unlikely Have they always eaten more? For some while now Will their offspring follow suit? It's happening Are them a small number of people? Yes An organisation? no Doctors and other health officials? Closeish but no |

So you're sure I'm not one of the overeaters? Could I have been in the past? (I'm still trying my best to keep last year's resolution!) Is there some other factor about these people that excludes me? Are they all male? |

So you're sure I'm not one of the overeaters? I'm sure certain :-) Could I have been in the past? You could have been but you weren't (at least, as far as I know) (I'm still trying my best to keep last year's resolution!) Well done Is there some other factor about these people that excludes me? yes Are they all male? no |

Are educationalists worried about the eating habits of children? |

Are they all young?? No Are educationalists worried about the eating habits of children? Yes they are but that's not it Hint: The puzzle statement belies the fact that the solution may be somewhat convoluted. I have no doubt that you will need to identify the two groups before getting anywhere near the answer |

Are they likely to die young? Do they have an official name? Are they a well-known socio-economic grouping? Are they talked about a lot in the newspapers? Do they get paid to appear on TV or are they just a topic that's discuss? How long have they been around? Decades? Can it be pinpointed as to when they first emerged? Bearing in mind that nobody short of black marketeers were able to eat much during the world wars, were they still an identifiable group back then? |

A small number of people - less than 10? Between 10 - 100? 100 - 1000? Tens of thousands? Hundreds of 1000s? When you say that you and I know them personally, do you mean that they live near us? Or we know them through this forum? Or there's a least one in every village? |

Apparently, because they eat more, it makes them more nervous than usual. Are they likely to die young? Generally no Do they have an official name? Yes Are they a well-known socio-economic grouping? Yope Are they talked about a lot in the newspapers? Yes Do they get paid to appear on TV or are they just a topic that's discuss? not really relevant How long have they been around? Decades? Yes and more Can it be pinpointed as to when they first emerged? Yesish - They have been around for centuries Bearing in mind that nobody short of black marketeers were able to eat much during the world wars, were they still an identifiable group back then? Yes but maybe they didn't eat as much back then A small number of people - less than 10? Between 10 - 100? 100 - 1000? Tens of thousands? Hundreds of 1000s? If you are still talking about "they" then they number in the millions When you say that you and I know them personally, do you mean that they live near us? Let's clarify because I may have answered inaccurately before, You and I know some of "They" personally (but only a few) Or we know them through this forum? Or there's a least one in every village? I know some of "they" from the forum and some "in the flesh", so to speak. I imagine that it is the same for you. As regards "them" I know all of them in the flesh and I doubt that you know any of them |

So them haven't been around for centuries then, or is your middle name Methuselah? You know all of them but you're not one of them? |

Will I know OF any of them? Not as individuals but when you identify the group I feel sure that you will recognise it as a group that you were conscious of, even if you have never given them a conscious thought! is it possible for me to identify the group at least by name? In a descriptive sense - yes It is certainly within your capacity, so don't worry about that. All will become clear |
