The cabin in the woods is part of a quaint thematic motor lodge, fully equipped with services including internet access. The hole in the floor is to allow the computer's modem cable to connect to the phone jack. The three dead people are all veterans of lateralpuzzles.com, who were trampled to death in the mad rush to castigate the newcomer for posting an all-time classic. Do I get the cookie now? |

Gosh, what a cruel "welcome". Look, Steve, if we can lure a talented newcomer into joining the forum, I think we should try to be nice even though the newcomer does post a classic. So, KB, welcome to the Lateral Thinking Puzzle Forum, or LTPF, as it is called by the initiated ones. As you probably understand by now, the puzzle you posted is an old one, well known by just about every regular around here. In general, if you hear a lateral puzzle from someone else out in the real world, chances are better than 10 to 1 that it is a classic that has long since been posted and solved here. Instead, try to think up a completely new one for yourself. That is much more likely to succeed. |
