Since taking a new job, Lyle has found it necessary to make an extra trip to the grocery store about once a week. Why? |

Because he works at a grocery store, and works one day a week? Does he buy something from the grocery store that he didn't used to buy? Buy more of something he has always bought? Is the amount he is paid in his new job relevant? The time at which he is paid? |

Is Lyle a photographer? Does he want the children to bite into the lemon so that they make strange grimaces? Does he take pictures of children with snakes? e. g. the snake is around their shoulders? Is the snake in fact harmless? Does he want the child in the picture to look extremely horrified? |

Well, it appears that way, but... e. g. the snake is around their shoulders? No, not this kind of picture Is the snake in fact harmless? Well yes, but only because of a certain aspect of what Lyle does Does he want the child in the picture to look extremely horrified? Likely not to this extent, but at least somewhat 'uncomfortable' Just a little more to reveal and we'll have the solution... |

Hi Tim, that's nice of you, but if you have any ideas - just go ahead! I don't mind. I don't claim ownership of this puzzle (or any other). Besides, I seem to be running out of creativity on this one... Does the child see the live snake? at the moment the picure is taken? Does Lyle perhaps do a photomontage? Maybe he could split up the exposure time of the picture - half of the exposure time is used to take a picture of the snake, then he takes the picture of the child with the same background (minus snake) on the same piece of film (I have no idea if this would work)?? |

* * * * SPOILER * * * * Lyle is a part-time photographer at a zoo. The zoo features several large snakes in the reptile area, and even offers the chance to have your picture taken "with the snake", although it's merely a picture of a person standing against a neutral background and the previously taken shot of the snake is imposed next to the person. Lyle has had sucess getting children and adults to 'react' to having a snake next to them, but has had a hard time getting young children to act as if they are next to a snake. His idea was to offer small kids a taste of lemon, then take the picture as soon as they react to the sour taste. This creates the impression that the kids are somewhat repulsed by the large reptiles. Very nice work Christiane, and a few final touches by Tim |
