The food was in this object? (or on it?) Was the object running (was the fridge cooling) when: Oscar left the cabin? before Jonah arrived? when he arrived? Is the current supply relevant? Is there still something technological to be found out? So Jonah opened the object and saw the food? did he smell it before? is smell relevant in this puzzle? Jonahs mistake happened directly after opening the object? If I call A what actually happened to Oscar and B a situation where he had not done the mistake. I think in B Oscar would have left the cabin some day, as it was only his secondary residence, right? Would he have left the cabin in B later? at the same time? earlier? than in A? Well, I am beginning to feel a tiny bit frustrated, lethargic, lost and incompetent regarding this puzzle... but I still don't give up as I know since the beginning of october that this is pretty close... . The particular part of Jonahs body involved is his: head? arm? hand? chest? leg? foot? something in his body? Did he move this part of the body? hit it against something? Brid, I learned something on required reflexes (I hope that this is the correct english term) in biology A-levels (and a bit on fungi as well). For example, in driving school you learn to break if you see red lights until it gets a required reflex i.e. automatically. Anyway, this is not particulary relevant here. Did the spores make Jonah: cough? sneeze? anything more? Apart from the moulded food, was there another consequence of Oscars mistake? if yes had this consequence an impact on himself? on someone else? When he realised the mistake did he think mostly of the food? of the cabin? of something else? | ||

He was a bachelor with no children, and it turned out that he had testamented his cabin to my husband (here known as Jonah; his two given names are Jonas Inge and he is called Inge, which is troublesome in Denmark and Germany, but it is a man's name here) and his sister. He had also testamented various other property to various other people, and unfortunately some points in the will were not clear and lead to a lot of arguing. This summer we learned at last that things would be ready soon (meaning this autumn). We still did not formally own the cabin, but we managed to find a key and went there to see how much work would be needed to put it in habitable condition. A lot, we found. Presumably we'll have to get a trailer and take practically all the furnishings to the dump. And we realised that uncle must have thought, when he last left the cabin, that he would soon be back, because he had left the unwashed dishes. Then we saw the fridge. Eagerly hoping it was empty, my husband opened it. It was full of a hitherto unknown lifeform, evolved from what might have been cheese and butter. He closed it again pronto but had an asthma attack which rendered him almost unable to do anything during the rest of that day. So we will have to tie ropes round that fridge, mark it "Biological Weapons" and see whether they even accept it at the dump... Moral: Never leave of until tomorrow etc. And if you ever make a will, have a lawyer help you, if it is any more complicated than "Everything to my sister Dora", so your family at least won't curse you for having made a will that doesn't make sense. | ||
