Does anyone know where the guy is? Does he himself know? Do most people who would be conserned know?

Relevant where he is? Can we find out by listing off places? Or is it completely unknown in the context of the puzzle?

Any contest/competition going on here?

Is the guy in the suit for his own entertainment? For someone else's? Is he being paid? Does he gain something out of this? Something tangible? Does he realise he is wearing the suit?

Are there other people around who can see him? If they were to see him, would they understand why he was wearing the suit?

I'll have a go at picking this up, though I've got one of my own running now, so a little reciprocal attention wouldn't go amiss... :-)

When you asked the question, was the man in the suit close to you?
Did you ask someone other than the man in the suit this question?
Was the man in the suit representing a company? Or in fancy dress?

I'm afraid I'm stuck on this one, but I don't want this to die...

So, someone said something which caused you to say "Not winged?"?

Was this someone the person in the chicken costume?
Was this someone a person with whom you were talking at the moment?
Was this someone a stranger?
Was this someone speaking to a larger crowd?

The location of the chicken guy:

in the street, correct?
on the pavement? in the street itself, i.e. where the cars drive?
on top of something? below something? at a bus stop? inside a cage? inside a vehicle? inside something else? any nearby buildings/structures relevant?

Did the chicken guy seem happy? sad? professional? Did he do some show? Did he hand out something? Were there any posters? requisites? other people in costumes? other relevant people without costumes?

Is anything else relevant that can be winged, (apart from chicken guy)? Is the verb "wing" in the sense of "improvise" relevant?

So, someone said something which caused you to say "Not winged?"? yes

Was this someone the person in the chicken costume? no
Was this someone a person with whom you were talking at the moment? no
Was this someone a stranger? to me, yes
Was this someone speaking to a larger crowd? a larger audience, yes, but not a crowd per se

The location of the chicken guy:

in the street, correct?
on the pavement? in the street itself, i.e. where the cars drive?
on top of something? below something? at a bus stop? inside a cage? inside a vehicle? inside something else? any nearby buildings/structures relevant? it is unknown where he is. where he WAS is known. at one point after the relevant place where he was and before his location became unknown, he was probably in the street, but this is not important. These facts are very relevant

Did the chicken guy seem happy?he's probably happy sad?probably not professional?no Did he do some show? no Did he hand out something?no Were there any posters?no requisites?no other people in costumes?no other relevant people without costumes?yes

Is anything else relevant that can be winged, (apart from chicken guy)?no Is the verb "wing" in the sense of "improvise" relevant?no

Was the speaker within sight of the bank? within a 1 km radius? further away than 100 km?
Was the speech transmitted by TV? Was it in the news?

Did you watch TV? Did you see the speaker in person?

So, the TV news speaker said something about a bank robbery? She implicated that the culprit was a guy in a chicken costume?

Did she give any relevant details about the robbery? Did the chicken guy do anything relevant with his wings? Did he take off his wings at one point?

Is there anything about the costume that's left to find out?

Was your question an expression of disbelief?
Does your question consider something the chicken guy had done? with his wings? without wings?

Anything about the robbery that's left to find out?
Anything about the news comment that's left to find out?

Was your question a direct response to the news item?

Did you ask a specific person? If yes: do we have to find out anything about this person?
Did you ask the world in general? Did you ask yourself?

Anything about the news comment that's left to find out? yes...there is a specific comment that led to my response

By 2 short sentences I mean together the sentences are 15 words. Not super short, but not long either.

Oh... did she talk about an "armed chicken"? (7zuztvrfuhxrfgbrf - *banging head against keyboard* - this took long!)Yay you got it!

************SPOILER*****************

The exact quote from the intro to a news story about the bank robbery was...
"Police are on the lookout for a giant chicken. They say he's armed and dangerous."
My immediate reaction, of course, was "Not winged?"

Thanks for finally putting the nail in that coffin, Christiane!!
