They took the money. Hundreds of dollars lost. Police swarmed the building. People ran, leaving their belongings behind…yet no one was hurt, and no crime committed. What happened? A fairly easy one...maybe this one will get solved faster than these others I've got going! |

Was the leak in a pipe?yes in a reservoir?no Of which elements did the gas consist: H?this O? N? C?and this S? P? F? Cl? Is the gas explosive?yes dangerous if breathed?not usually...calling it toxic was probably misleading, if not altogether wrong. Dangerous is a better word The one who caused the accident was: working on something containing the gas?yes fixing? repairing? controlling? not really sure, it's only relevant that his work led to the accident Was he in proximity of the building (say closer than 100 m)? the building was perhaps 20-30 m away Did the gas enter the building? possibly Are the products sold in the building relevant?yope Are they made of: metal? wood? paper? glass? stone? concrete? tissue? organic material?this plastic? earth? Is clay relevant in this puzzle?no |

So there was no fire? and no explosion? Was there danger of fire? or explosion? If so, was the danger in the building? outside? Is it natural gaz (used for cooking and heating)? Anything more to be found out about the gas? Was the pipe in the ground? Was the leak visible? relevant? Is it food that is sold in the building? Is the building a restaurant? If yes, is the type of restaurant relevant? Or is it grocery? a bar? |

So I'll try to put the elements together: The women were waitresses? I guess that the guests in the restaurant did not pay before running away, right? Was this the hundreds of dollars lost? Did the women put the money they had with them into the safe? Did the policemen want the people to leave the building? Because of the risk of explosion? Was the risk in the restaurant particulary high because of the stoves? |

I think the answer to "is the type of restaurant relevant" should have been yes. But not in terms of type of cuisine |

Was it a fast food restaurant?no a take-away?yesish...its a pay first dine-in or carry-out type restaurant There is really no cash desk envolved? I guess my Americanese interpretation of the tern "cash desk" was misleading. "Cash desk" implied a bank in my mind. There is a cash register involved, however. The job of the women included to get the pay from the guests? no Did the guests lose the hundreds of money? noSomeone from the restaurant?um, yope Someone else?no |

I looked up cash desk in the dictionary so it might not be appropriate. Btw, in german it is 'Kasse'. So, the women took the money from the cash register(s) to put it into the safe? Anything more to be found out about their job? on what they did? Did the owner/manager of the restaurant lose the money? Did the belongings of the people include the food? What remains to be found out? |

I looked up cash desk in the dictionary so it might not be appropriate. Btw, in german it is 'Kasse'. So, the women took the money from the cash register(s) to put it into the safe? yes Anything more to be found out about their job?not really on what they did? no Did the owner/manager of the restaurant lose the money? well, yope. Did the belongings of the people include the food? no What remains to be found out?i guess not anything really important, so... ************SPOILER********************* A break of the gas line across the street from the restaurant where I work as an assistant manager was broken during a construction product. Because of the close proximity to the building and the nature of the business, the building was evacuated by the police who were parked across the street to block of the contruction area. I and my co-managers scrambled to empty the money from the registers into the safe, since the building would not be locked. All the customers and employees ran from the building, the employees leaving their belongings in their lockers, expecting to be let back in soon, as we were not all informed of the reason for the evacuation...we were just told "get out now!" This happened at around 11:00 AM, and we were not let back into the building until 2:45..effectively killing all of our potential business for the day, as we are only open for lunch, hence the restaurant lost hundreds of dollars in potential business. Oh, and the name of the restaurant is the Red Clay Cafe....the title is a line from a song by one of my favorite bands. Thanks for your persistence, Tobasi...I'm afraid this puzzle ended more awkwardly than I would have liked. |

The band is a local Athens, Georgia band called Don Chambers+GOAT...they actually just got back a few months ago from touring in Germany and the UK, I believe. I think the name of the song is "Sweetest Flower" |
