Alas, poor Steve is terrified of needles, and after getting a single dot on his wrist, he freaked out and demanded that the tattoo artist go no further. When he met his girlfriend later on in the day, excitedly asking to see his new tattoo, he sheepishly showed it to her. They had the following exchange: She: "...What on earth is that?" He: "A tattoo." She: "It's a dot." He: "Ah, but this is no ordinary dot. This is a fullstop. A period. The fact that it has been precisely positioned underneath my watch symbolises our everlasting love. I will love you until the end of time." She was unimpressed.
