He claimed he lived in France, but from our exchanges I didn't think so. |

It doesn't matter what he bought? Is it just the exchange of money that's important? Did he give you way too much French money for what he was buying, thereby alerting you that he couldn't be from France? |

Gotcha. Was it the website you exchanged on that tipped you off? His username? Some bit of personal information he gave? The fact that he was buying on the internet at all? Was it an e-bay/Amazon type site you were on? Did he claim he was French on the same website? On a "personal info" page? Relevant? |

Was it impossible for the transaction to come from France because of: - The sender's local time on the money transfer details - the specific date - the day of the week - French holidays - French bank strikes that day - the time it took for you to receive the money thru the transaction |

Was it impossible FA, it was merely improbable for the transaction to come from France because of: - The sender's local time on the money transfer details Not quite - the specific date - the day of the week - French holidays - French bank strikes that day - the time it took for you to receive the money thru the transaction None of these |

Think so. You got suspicious when you saw the details from the money transfer, because it was done when it would be early morning in France and way before any banks are open. Most probably he lived a few timezones east of France...? |
