Was he somehow confused with what time it was? Thinking in lines of timezones. Did he have the correct time schedule? Did he read it properly? Was it a special day when the train were running on another schedule? | ||

So he knew that the train would be coming, but he didn't believe it would come exactly at that moment? He thought it would come later? This means that he didn't actually see or hear the train approaching? Or did he see it, but he was certain that at that specific time the train would be slower and unable to kill? Was the actual time when he died, the time he expected to be when he would murder Therese? Was Therese there? | ||

So he thought that it was earlier than it actually was. Did he think it was earlier by: 1-59 min? 1-3hr? 3-23r? One day? More days? (if the exact time is necessary, or at least more specific than my ranges, could you assume LPTFLPI minutes?) His wrong knowledge of time is a result of him doing something out of ignorance? or a result of the tradition? how do you say in english? a result of him doing sth or a result of his doing sth? I think my reasoning is working when I infer that he couldn't have known for sure that Therese would have been there at any specific time. Therefore: Did he plan to bring her there? Or plan to make her go there by some means? | ||

It's better to say 'as a result of (doing) sth' I think my reasoning is working when I infer that he couldn't have known for sure that Therese would have been there at any specific time. While waiting for the time to come to bring his victim, Therese and tie her to the tracks, Joe fell asleep right there, on the train tracks. Unfortunatly for him, the time had changed to DST (or from DST, whichever moves it 1h forward), and Joe omitted to change the time on his alarm watch. Instead of waking up just in time, he ended up where he wanted Therese, sleeping with the fishies. (Or maybe food for the fish, considering the number of pieces in which he is split) Or maybe, the country recently switched the day on which to pass to and from DST (I remember this happened here when I was a little boy), and he wasn't aware of this? | ||
