Several years ago, I read a non-fiction book about an American boarding school that had a policy I found so astonishing I could hardly believe anyone would be willing, let alone eager, to teach there. But many people are. What's the policy?? | ||

The reason why you think most people wouldn't want to teach there - is it the fact that they should do something which is unusual/shouldn't do something which is perfectly normal and usual? Is the boarding school for dedicated for a community in particular? I mean serving students of a particular race, colour, tribe etc. Will this policy be considered strange outside USA as well? Does this policy makes students more willing to join it? | ||

So the policy says teachers shouldn't say/do something to the students, correct? Is this undesired activity restricted to the time after the lessons? Limited to any time of the day? If so, is it daytime/nighttime? Do the teachers stay with the students overnight? Relevant? Would the restriction concern ANY teacher towards ANY student? Or just male teachers/female students? Female teachers/male students? Is the activity very common? If you saw someone doing it in public, would it embarass you? Would it be common/possible in other schools? | ||

Does the limitation include something that is highly unlikely that any sane person would ever consider? Such as, you are not allowed to correct or punish students using a handgun, a large axe and/or a stick longer than 8 feet? Or, teachers are not allowed to punish students that are bigger than themselves, due to insurance constraints? Or, the school does not financially compensate teachers for dry cleaning blood off their working clothes? Eh... I got a bit carried away... | ||

would it help to work out if there is a specific time mentioned? does everyone have to be inside at a certain time? in bed at a certain time? are the teachers also expected to obey the rule to set an example? does everyone have to have at least an hours exercise every day? | ||

Prescott mentions that ths school has an "open door policy," requiring teachers whose houses are on campus to have their homes always open to students. Imagine living that way!!! Oh you haven't heard anything yet. My University switched to a "residential college" where the teachers live and eat dinner in the Dorms with the students. It's bizzare and I graduated before it occurred, but for whatever reason the school thought it would attract more students... or richer parents. | ||
