I'm not much of a zoologist, but I was recently asked a question about anteaters. How come? |

Have you seen an anteater? in the zoo? in nature? Do you come from a country where anteaters live? Is the one who asked the question adult? Do we have to find out more about him/her? Did this happen in a quiz? Would the puzzle work with another animal? with any animal? Is there anything relevant about the anteater? anatomy? behaviour? the word anteater? Would it help to find out the question? |

Did the question contain any of the following words: Where? When? Who? Whose? What? Which? Why? How? anteater? Could you answer the question? Did you answer it? Is the answer relevant? Was it a yes/no question? Is the relation between you and the questioner relevant? friends? family? colleagues? strangers? Was it a personal question? or would anyone have given the same answer? Did the question aim at your education? personal knowlege? information you happened to have? Had you seen? read? heard? anything that made it possible to answer? Is it relevant that anteaters are animals? that the word is composed of "ant" and "eat"? Any wordplay involved? Was the question about particular anteaters? anteaters in general? Was it about one anteater? more than one: 2? 3? ... Is there any reference to a book? a film? etc? |

Did it involve the words "are?", "will?", "can/could you?", "will/would you?"? Was it about an... "Aunt?" Perhaps you were all at a family feast and someone commented on how much an aunt eats? |

I'm wondering why you didn't answer the question. Did you consider it rhetorical? were you offended by it? Did the person asking it confuse you with someone else? Was the answer too so obvious you considered answering it superflous? Was the question asked verbally? if so in person? over the phone? if not, In writing? by E-Mail? other? A crossword? other puzzle? Did the question begin with Do You? Have You? Does Anteater refer to the animal of that name or another animal that preys on Ants? |

Did the question contain the word: think? see? hear? get? go? say? tell? talk? eat? Did the question itself make you think of an anteater? the context? Was there a sort of conversation before the question was asked? or after it? If there was a conversation were you asked several questions? While doing this did you work? did the questioner? are your occupations relevant? Was the correct answer to the question yes? no? (I guess that this one won't help on very much but anyway...) |

So the question is what were you googling? Were you curious about a LTPF user's name and googled it but google had no entries so suggested Tamandua? I'm not long on the forum and can't recall a user whose name resembles Tamandua. |

Yes ... good enough for a ****SPOILER**** In the puzzle "iTom" on 7 February, Tomandlu suggested "You could always try googling tomandlu". Which of course I did, and Google, thoughtful as ever, asked "Did you mean tamandua?", which is apparently a species of anteater. Of course I search for those all the time. Silly puzzle, I know, but thanks for playing. |

Not at all silly in fact a very good puzzle. Forgot about Tomandlu. This is my first solve so I'll never forget what a Tamandua is? Was hoping it would be about Aardvarks which as all fans of sitcom Blackadder will know is a "medium sized insectivore with protruding nasal implement" |
