Did he feel victorious because of some sort of triumph over someone else? over more people? Did he feel victorious because he was about to accomplish something that he viewed as a goal? But in fact it lead the murderer to him? Is the clenching of the fist a gesture of victory? Or is there more to it? |

Did he expect 3rd person to react that way after seeing him clenching his fist? Is this story set nowadays? Some years ago? Last century? Long ago? Did the murderer decide to kill him only after seeing the action of 3rd person? Or he already wanted to kill him and this event was the "trigger" of the murder? Was the clenching of the fist a symbol of victory over the murderer? The reaction of 3rd person: shout? run away? cry? |

The purpose of the game was to determine who would do something none of them wanted to do? If so, is this "something" related to the killer? Did he win the game? Did she win the game? |

If he had done the thing with the woman would he have been killed? Was he killed because he wasn't doing it? Or because the murderer saw the woman doing it? Did whatever the woman was doing make it look like she and the man were lovers? |

Hmmm... running out of ideas here somewhat... So did the fact that he wasn't doing the thing somehow convince the murderer that they were lovers? Was the murderer angry because he should have been doing the thing? Or because he made the woman do it? Is the thing a common thing to do? is it dangerous? |

*RECAP* The victim lives with a female friend. By winning a game of rock paper scissors, at home, he gets out of doing something – something common and not dangerous - that she then has to do. Shortly afterwards he is killed out of jealousy by his friend’s ex who believes she and the victim are lovers. This would not have happened had the victim ‘lost’ and had to do it himself, or done it with his friend. However this would not have caused his friend to be killed instead. The murderer does not see her doing ‘it’. The murderer and the victim have never met. All that’s left is, what the consequence was to her from losing the game, and another detail that made the murderer so angry and jealous. |

The 'thing' is done everyday? by most people in the world? Is it usually done by men? by women? Does she leave the house in order to do it? If so, does she leave driving a car? on foot? Does she go far away? You said it takes less than an hour to do it, but does it take more than 30 min? 15-30 min? less than 15 min? |

Danielvs The 'thing' is done everyday? It could be by most people in the world? could be Is it usually done by men? by women? either Does she leave the house in order to do it? Yes! If so, does she leave driving a car? No! on foot? Yes!Does she go far away? Not what I'd call far. You've actually got the relevant info you need now about this part, but there is a clue somewhere if you want to get all the specifics You said it takes less than an hour to do it, but does it take more than 30 min? Likely this 15-30 min? Unlikely less than 15 min? No |

So if he had gone outside with his friend to do the "thing", he wouldn't have been killed. Is that just because the murderer came to the house, and if he had gone he wouldn't have been there to kill? Or is there more? Did the killer know that the woman had left the house? Or did he find out some other way? Did he ever know she had left the house? Could he see that the man was still in the house? Did the woman have anything with her when she went out to do the "thing"? Is this relevant? |

Did the murderer know that the man lived there, but didn't know the woman lived there too? Or did he know she lived there but didn't realise the man lived there? Not sure if this has been answered, but if the woman had stayed in with the man, would he still have been killed? When the murderer came to the house, was he expecting his victim to be there? Because you said he couldn't see whether the man was still in the house. Was he expecting his ex-girlfriend to be there? |

Correct... though again with a tiny 'ish' Not sure if this has been answered, but if the woman had stayed in with the man, would he still have been killed? Tricky one. Had she told him that she never wanted to see another man again or something? Did he think she lived with a female friend? Ummm...she had become a lesbian? You said it depended whether he would have been killed if the woman had stayed home. Does that depend on who answered the door to the murderer? If the killer had come to the house and seen them both there, would he have killed the man? |

So the woman had said something like "I'm living with Charlie now" and the murderer assumed she was living with Charlotte but she was actually living with Charles? And the murderer came to visit her but she was out doing the task, so Charles answered the door, and the murderer jumped to the conclusion that they were now lovers so killed Charles out of jealousy? Since the woman wasn't there, she couldn't set him straight. Right? |

Since the woman wasn't there, she couldn't set him straight. Right? Yep more or less! That's pretty much a bullseye so...... *********************SPOILER********************** Alex (male!) and Bonnie are old friends - platonic - who share a flat. Colin is a chap Bonnie dated briefly. While dating she had occasionally mentioned that she lived with her friend Alex. On realising Colin had taken this to be a female friend, she had chosen not to correct him. After a few weeks she split up with him due to his rather obsessive nature and jealous temper. The following Sunday evening, there is nothing on the telly so she and Alex decide to rent a movie and play rock-paper-scissors to see who has to go and get it. Alex's rock (fist!) beats Bonnie's scissors so off she goes. It's a nice evening so she decides to walk it. A few minutes later Colin is passing and seeing her car outside, assumes Bonnie must be home. He decides to attempt to rekindle things and knocks on the door. Imagine his surprise when Alex appears, looking very much at home and very much male. Realising Bonnie had lied to him, he assumes it was to cover up the fact she had been cheating on him with Alex, cue a murder of the most angry and jealous kind. This happened to my old boyfriend Alex (who fortunately didn't get deaded, just a black eye) and I understand the conversation went along the lines of: "Who are you then, Alex's boyfriend or something" "Er, what? No I'm Alex" Well done and thanks everyone for playing, epecially Enjay, Danielvs, Emeraldink for getting the name thing (which I thought would go FIRST, given everyone's love of naming people on here!!) and kudos to damia for getting what the fist was all about!!
