So did she cheat when handing in a paper? Cheat in some other way?

Would everyone get away with breaking the same rule as she did?

Was it considered serious that she had broken the rules?

Just a thought. You said she was caught. But was the person or persons that caught her the one/ones that could have punished her for it? (thinking of a scenario where her cheating is not discovered by her teacher/professor, but a friend or school mate that doesn't bother to report it)

Is there something relevant about the person that discovers her cheating? nothing special

Are there any other relevant persons involved? well, there are disciplinary panels, committees, etc, that enforce rules and penalties. The identity of those people isn't important.

bummer, I thought I had it, but as you said there was nothing relevant with the other person, it can't be herself that wrote it, that she had some bipolar disorder or something and had released it under a different name. Well, back to the drawing board then....

But just to make sure. It was NOT Jessica that did publish the original paper, right?

Is the topic of the paper relevant? Relevant whether or not it was an important paper, such as a part of a final exam?

Did she copy from wikipedia and then claim that she had submitted the section herself from her own research? YES!

***SPOILER***

Nice one! Jessica copied a section from Wikipedia and was caught by a lecturer using Google. Because Wikipedia is an open source that can be edited by anyone at any time, even when not logged in, she claimed at her disciplinary hearing that she had actually written the Wikipedia article in the first place. As the panel could not prove otherwise, they had to let her off.
