Dave=h? a? m? Does Dave intend to kill himself by jumping off the building? Does the fall alone kill him or is there more? Is it relevant why Dave was feeling depressed? Was the person prosecuted the person who drove Dave to be depressed? |

Was Dave: 0-5 years? 5-8? 9-12? 13-18? Was he being abused? Had something terrible happened in his life? Had somebody died? Did he actually hit the ground after jumping? Did something happen to him on the way down? Would this work if he had killed himelf another way? Was the person prosecuted a relative of Dave? Friend? Other? Were they guilty of his murder? Were they prosecuted simply because they had driven him to suicide, or did they physically murder him? Would there have been some controversy about their conviction? |

Did something break his fall? If so was it something that should have been there, or was it put there? I think you missed a few of Enjay's questions |

Was the tall building a block of flats? office block? hotel? monument? tower? tourist attraction? Would Dave have been there if he hadn't intended to jump? If the parent (father? mother? does it matter?) didn't mean to do the thing that killed him, was it just that they were successfully prosecuted for his murder? Was something put on the ground? held out of a window? attached to the outside of the building? did it come only when it became apparent that Dave was going to jump? had it been there for a while? was it growing? Was Dave's body pierced by the thing? |

Was the tall building a block of flats? this one office block? hotel? monument? tower? tourist attraction? Would Dave have been there if he hadn't intended to jump? on the roof no. but in the building yes If the parent (father? mother? this does it matter? noish) didn't mean to do the thing that killed him, was it just that they were successfully prosecuted for his murder? not sure exactly what you're asking here but fair to say that her conviction was dubious in the extreme Was something put on the ground? no held out of a window? no attached to the outside of the building? yes did it come only when it became apparent that Dave was going to jump? no had it been there for a while? yes but would depend on what you mean by a while. We'll say a day or two was it growing? no Was Dave's body pierced by the thing? no |

Had they recently moved to the flat? Did they formerly have a garden? a pet which they could no longer have? Had his parents divorced? Was the thing a window box? a washing line? a TV satelite dish? an advertising hoarding? a balcony? an awning? Was it put there with any necessary permission? Was it something not usually fixed to a building? |

as this has gone dead and for the benefit of those who haven't deciphered Alex's answer i'll post the ******************SPOILER**************** Dave is a teenager who lives in an apartment block with his parents. They are constantly fighting and their arguments are getting more and more violent with a gun being produced in a threatening manner on more than one occasion. Depressed by this Dave decides to kill himself by jumping from the top of the apartment building. Several storeys below Dave's parents are fighting and Dave's mother produces a gun which accidently discharges. The bullet passes through the open window of the apartment striking Dave as he plummets past killing him instantly. Dave lands in a window cleaners safety net which had only been erected the previous day and which only for the bullet would have saved his life. Thus Dave's mother is charged with causing his death. Not sure if this is a true story but Tom Cruise's character tells it in the film Magnolia along with the infamous Greenberry Hill coincidence. To see the quote in full please click below. CHEERS. I'm off to meet my mates for a RIOT or I mean PINT!! www.imdb.com/title/tt0175880/quotes |

I thought it might've been that story when i asked whether he jumped because someone didn't die. There is another version of this story with an even wackier subtext - actually on reading the link you gave - the same story. where the man successfully committed homicide on himself by loading his parents shotgun with the intent that his father would shoot his mother. he jumps because they hadn't fought in a while. Great story for a puzzle! I'm suprised no-one's used it before. |

Not sure if I can still post here, but that story HIGHLY resembles the FALSE tale of one Ronald Opus - you can look it up on snopes, I've read it many times for the sheer amusement of it all. If it's not on snopes, it's on darwinawards.com Cheers =] |
