Robert hated doing the laundry, so his mom told him that if he was out after curfew, then for every 15 minutes late he was he would have to do one additional load of laundry. However one day he got home 30 minutes after curfew, but he waited outside for 30 more minutes before entering the house. Why?

Is switch to or from daylight savings time relevant?

Did he have to do additional loads of laundry? If yes four additional loads? Did he actually do those loads?
Was his mom at home? did she realise that he was late?

Was he waiting until he knew she would be asleep, so she wouldn't realise he was out after curfew? Is it relevant what time his curfew was? By waiting 30 minutes, did that mean when he got in it was technically past midnight so was the next day? Is that relevant?

If Robert had been 15 minutes late, would he have waited at all? If yes, would he have waited :
less than 15 minutes more?
15 minutes more?
30 minutes more?
45 minutes more?
more than 45 minutes more?

If he had been 45 minutes late, would he have waited at all?
15 minutes?
longer than 15 minutes?

Is switch to or from daylight savings time relevant? Yes! Wow you got this one pretty fast.

Spoiler: He got home 30 minutes before you turn back the clocks for daylight savings time. By waiting 30 more minutes, he waited until the clocks were turned back, so he could truthfully claim he was exactly on time.

Wow! He he would have a pretty late curfew in the US. Here, the official time for people to change the clocks for daylights savings time is 2am.

It's 1am in Britain (I think), so I guess it's not totally unreasonable he had a midnight curfew.
