Did Elodie plan a crime? commit a crime? plan something that involves a crime? induce somebody to do a crime? Relevant what crime? Are more living beings besides Elodie and the cat involved in this story? Is the prospective victim of the crime somehow involved? Did she steal the cat? buy it? inherit it? find it? was it given to her? did she win the cat in a lottery? did the cat just come on her own? Relevant why Elodia's plan failed? (was the plan bad? did the circumstances change? did someone find out about it? did Elodia change her mind and abandoned the plan?) Were Elodia's criminal plans serious? |

I actually know more people called Elodie that people called Emily... but I suppose that's because I lived in France for a year. Is it true to say that if the plan had succeeded, she would not have got a new cat? Would she have got an old cat? a dog? no pet at all? Did she get the new cat from the person she planned to kill? Did she actually try to kill the person and fail? Have to abort the plan for some reason? Because the person died in the meantime? Because she decided she didn't want them dead? |

Did Elosie save the cat from harm? Is the 'new cat' in the question the only cat involved in the story? Did a cat cause the plan to be aborted? Was Elosie wanting to kill this specific individual (the intended victim)? Or would anyone in the same place at the same time have done just as well? Was the death of the intended victim the only crime Eloise attempted to commit? Also, please clarify for me: Post #8: You said do any crimes take place at all? no Post #11: You said Did Elodie commit a crime? possibly They seem contradictory to me, but are these answers both correct? |

other than the fact that Elodie bought a cat after her plan failed, is the cat relevant? if so, is it relevant because of Elodie's past or because of something she wanted to do in the future? did she want a cat because they are mostly standoffish? because they are relatively easy to take care of? I know that cat's have a terrible smell to their urine--one that you can't usually get rid of--did she possibly want this smell to cover up the smell of something else? a future murder, perhaps? was she planning on committing another crime? |

Did ownership of the cat improve Elosie's situation in some way? ... In a way that made it easier for Elosie to deal with her non-dead intended victim? ( Eg The intended victim kept coming to visit Elosie and bore her with stories of his children's schoolwork, so Elosie tried to kill him... but, during the murder attempt, she discovered that her victim hated cats, so later solved her problem by getting a cat to prevent him wanting to come round in future... :-D ) Did Elosie still want to kill the intended victim after she had failed the first time and acquired the cat? |

Does the intended victim realise that Elodie wanted to kill them? If so, is the intended victim threatening some sort of legal action against Elodie? |

the intended victim (Pun perhaps? its a gender neutral name in Thailand) and Elodie know each other - A little? A lot? are they neighbours? do they live in the same building? work in the same building? Is there some issue do to close proximity between the two of them that the cat will negate? Pun was at all times unaware of a murder plan? does Pun know why Elodie got the cat? Was Pun ever aware of Elodie's motive, whatever it might be? |

is this psychological trait - relevant to Elodie's motive? the root for Elodie's motive? the entirety of Elodie's motive? you could notice the trait if conversing with Pun, depending on the topic of conversation... are relevant topics worth exploring in order to help identify the trait? if so, are any of these topics significant? animals? nature? politics? finance/business? gossip? sports? national security? terrorism? superstitions? Religion/beliefs? culture/cultural differences? science? other? not sure if it's been asked or not, but is there anything at all relevant in the accoutrements that might (or compulsarily) accompany the purchase of a cat? eg catflaps in doors, kitty litter, bell on the cats collar? |

This is close enough for me to declare a **SPOILER*********** Elodie wanted to kill Pun & was planning to do it at her own house. (Perhaps, like someone in an earlier puzzle of mine, she was a potter who haf a kiln for handy disposal of the body! So she told the cat-loving Pun that she had just gotten a cat & invited him to come & see it. When he declined, she had to get a cat as cover. Thanks for sticking with it, everyone, & please check out my new puzzle at the bottom of the page |
