I'm assuming the 'this' in the above post refers to Soviet rather than contemporary non russian... are their occupations relevent? does he/is the nobleman addressed by a title (such as sir) which would traditionally mean nobility, but now may be used out of respect or as a job title? |

No, it's not my puzzle, Rabrab. It was made by someone else, but without their name in the subject; along came an admin and - seeing my name in the "Last Poster" column - assumed I started the thread and called it [JudgeDeadd] |

***SPOILER*** Since, there are no views of solving this, I'll spoil: it was 1924 in the Soviet Union, and the man (A) was going on a train with a few other people. A began talking to one of the men (B), who told him that he is a rich nobleman and has lavish palaces in the country (something unheard of in Soviet Russia). The surprised A was told by another passenger (C) that B was just insane, that the car is filled with insane men going to a psychiatric hospital, and that C is their caretaker. Soon afterwards, yet another passenger (D) began reaching for a penknife that C left. Our hero, thinking that D is insane and wants to kill everyone with the penknife, attacked him and tried to get the knife from him, only to learn that D was sane and was simply getting the knife he lent to C. And so ended the most confusing riddle ever. |
