That was just a guess, in a cryptic kind of way. That you don't recognise it answers it. No!

Relevant what he would have died of? I can post a list if you like! (just ask Noobdogg!)

If someone hadn't seen him dancing would he still have died?

Was the 'dancing' what was keeping him alive, directly? Or was it preventing something else from happening which would have killed him?

Is it anything like the situation in the movie 'Crank'?

Was he dancing to get the attention of someone else to come and save him? For example, he could have been drowning? or stranded on an island or secluded area?

So by keeping dancing he was avoiding a situation where he had to drink a poisoned drink?

Anyone else involved? number M?F?A?C?
Real life? FYOI? Book? Movie?

Please tell me that this is not related to one of the classic puzzles? Mind you if it is along the lines I just thought of it would be a great twist!

This dance is not one that any teacher would teach in a dance studio, correct?
Is this dance something that is performed involentarily?
Are the dancer's emotions relevant?
Is the dancer going to be killed? Murdered?
Executed?
Last Dance Before an Execution relevant?
If so, this is pretty heavy subjectmatter....

Last Dance Before an Execution relevant? You mean the dance of the hanged? Proves the point that the wild guesses are better than the answers...
If so, this is pretty heavy subjectmatter...If not, now what?

Uh, my suggestion was from the stage version of Peter Pan, where Cap'n Hook needs some kinda dance tune for to do his thinkin', see - the first time's a Tango but the second be a Tarantella (sorry Mr. Pig, didn't mean to inflict early $poilage).

The only time I remember reading about the Tarantella was Ibsen's book A Doll House in college. Is this book relevant? Though as I recall, no one was bitten by a tarantula!

on another thought (and I'm not sure if I remember this correctly) but I don't think all tarantulas are poisonous (I think I remember hearing this when I took my son to the zoo recently)...

Did he get bitten by a non-poisonous one, dance the Tarantella, and lived not because of the dance but because he was bitten by a non-poisonous tarantula?

As soon as I saw the dance, I knew the answer!
So basically, the Italians (or wherever this dance comes from) thought that the only way to cure a person of a tarantula bite was through frenzied dancing. That dance eventually became the tarantella.
