a ton *of* something relevant?

ton as in volume?
Or do you just generally mean a large quantity? (eg. There are tons and tons of active puzzles on this forum)

I also found this rather obscure definition of ton:
1. high fashion; stylishness.
2. the current fashion, style, or vogue.

relevant?

If none of these, are we wasting our time trying to find out what ton means?

Is the puzzle statement something someone said?
Does the "...." at the beginning suggest a relevant prior conversation? Or is this the last part of a sentence?

Does this involve a group of people playing a regular game of poker? If so, are they playing for money? or does ton indicate what leverage they are using to bet?

Is the title "But...." the beginning of a sentence ending with the puzzle statement? If so, does this indicate that this is a non-standard poker bet?

So...somebody bet something in a game of poker? Bet money? Relevant how much?
And somebody else replied "But... I'll raise you a ton"?
And we have to find out what they said, and what they meant by "ton"?

Did this other person place a standard bet, that the speaker raised, just like a normal game of poker? Or was the bet about something else?

When he says , "...I'll raise you a ton", does he mean a standard poker raise, or some other meaning of raise? such as raising funds for a charity? or actually raising something / someone up? a salary raise? Was it an unintended pun? and intended one? was this funny at all?

Something about different units of measurement? like the metric system and some other system... that made this funny?

Such as, one person said, "i call 5 pounds" and the other said, "ill raise you a ton!"

Did somebody not really understand the game, or not speak english very well, so thought that in poker you bet weight rather than money?

********** SPOILER ******************
A Texas cowboy was playing a round of poker with two English gentlemen. "Two pounds" said one of the English. Looking down on his hand of 4 aces, the Texan said, "I dunno how y'all count yore money, but I'll raise you a ton!
