Besides the straw and instructions, was there anything else in the envelope? The intended use for the straw...Were you to blow through it? suck something through it? Was it intended to come into contact with your mouth at all? Did you have to alter the straw in anyway? After using the straw, did you have to respond to the person who sent it to you? provide that person with information? |

beside the straw and the instruction there was something else... how many? 1? just one 2?3? more? no if more so more but of one kind or more but different things? not different, much the same as the instructions if different, shape different? material(s) which they are made of? is it a common thing(s) we can easily get it (them) in somewhere? in a shop? on the black market? how much could it (each of them) cost? less than 10$, less than50$? 50-100$? over 100$? over 500$? nothing that can be bought is it an electic equipment or partly electic equipment? is it a plant? an animal? any other form of life? is is someting made of more than one material? no to all plastic? metal? wood? glass? cloth? liquid? gas? something else? this one and to all above - is it relevant the particular kind of those materials? which one? generaly is this thing(s) a liquid? gas? solid?(hard? this, pulp?, soft?) something in between? if so - between which and which? don't dwell too much on what was also in the envelope, you have all that is necessary the straw helped you imagine the problem of a disabled person? yes what that disabled person would use this straw for? no just the straw or together with this other thing(s)? if so, will the disabled person read and follow the same instructions? no he wouldn't I think the disability is relevant? yes only one disability? yes, or at least that is relevant to the puzzle more than one? 2?3? more? are you working for this organisation? no do you know anybody disabled yes and you needed to use this straw and this other thng(s) to help this person later on or just to realise something? this was sent by the charity to make the point the title of this riddle is The last straw. the title is not relevant to the puzzle except that it was a straw that was sent to me - sorry if you got waylaid by the word 'last' did you get more before? more of what? similar ones with all the same features? different ones? for different use? for the same use but which brought different results? you had to use all the straws in the same time? or one by one rather? relevant the time between each of the uses? with the previous straws you get any other instructions? different than the one you got recently? tha same? very similar? did you get any other things with the previous straws? different ones than the one you got recently? tha same? very similar? I only had one communication from the charity so all these questions are n/r RECAP for clarity I had a communication from a charity containing a straw for me to 'suck' through. I also needed to do something else at the same time. The only other contents of the envelope were details of the charity and donation forms. What else did I need to do apart from sucking through the straw? What did it illustrate for me and can you guess at the charity involved from this illustration? |

********** SPOILER ********** The Cystic Fibrosis Trust sent me the usual fund raising request, but instead of including a pen they included a straw. It was a thin straw like you get with a carton of juice but twice the length (maybe you get them to drink cocktails, I don't know.) Anyway, you pinched your nose and breathed through the straw for one minute. It seemed easy at first and then quickly you felt breathless. But that is how cystic fibrosis sufferers feel all the time as their lung function is severely impaired, often just 65% of normal capacity. I felt it was one of the most inspired ways of getting the message across of how that particular disability actually feels. |
