Hi there! After a period of absence I have a new idea for a puzzle and hopefully ideas on how to solve yours. Why did he put up trees? |

He - H?A?M? Real Life ? Fictional? FYOI? Trees as in the plant? When you say he put up trees do you mean he planted them? Did he plant small new trees that would grow into larger ones? or did he simply move some mature trees to a new location? Was he trying to obscure the view to or of something? Was he trying to convince people that he was concenred about the environment? Is his occupation relevant? |

These are live, real trees, and not say, planks or boards he put up? Was he an environmentalist? A scientist? Is his job relevant? Location relevant? Time period relevant? I will not ask questions about the cartoon (like company, etc) as figuring out which film this comes from and then watching it would be against the spirit of the puzzle. |

These are live, real trees, and not say, planks or boards he put up? Yes, real trees (but in a cartoon) Was he an environmentalist? No A scientist? No Is his job relevant? No, there is something he does but this is not really a job. Location relevant? Yes Time period relevant? There is one detail indicating that it happened within the last say 150 years but not really relevant. I will not ask questions about the cartoon (like company, etc) as figuring out which film this comes from and then watching it would be against the spirit of the puzzle. OK, anyway the cartoon is not too well known. |

I don't spend a lot of time on the forum, so I tend to see if I can ask questions on puzzles that have been inactive for a while. Location relevant... Meaning country? specific local area like town? Or more the type of landscape, so city? countryside? suburbs? Does the type of tree matter? Was he looking specifically at the trees? (For example, the area had been forest, then developed, and he wanted to return it to how it was) Or was he looking at something in the trees? (For example, he was trying to encourage wildlife to settle in the area) |

What I tried to ask badly was: does it matter to the puzzle that it is the countryside rather than, for example, a park in a city? Is the country in Europe? the Americas? Asia? Africs? a fictional country? Does the presence of the trees allow him to do something? Does it cause something to occur that he wants to occur? You said he didn't want to climb the trees, and clearly also the precise location is important, as he moved them rather than use them where they were. So... Does the flying involve him being on top of one of the trees and then jumping off? Or is he flying to the trees? Was he trying to fly to somewhere specific? Did he want someone else to see him fly? |

Right. He starts off somewhere high that he has access to. He wants to get to somewhere else that he does not have access to. Moving the trees helps him to achieve this in a way that involves him travelling through the air. Is this all right? Let's work out the mechanics of his flight. Is he gliding? using updrafts? simply jumping from a high place to a lower place? Just to check, is physics working normally? Are the trees in a line, so that he travels from the starting point to one tree, then from tree to tree until he can get from the last one to his ultimate goal? Happy birthday! |

I'm a bit confused by the phrase 'put up trees'. Are they living trees? Any specific species of trees? Dead trees? Fallen trees? Is it a strip cartoon? If so, how long elapses between the first and last frame: minutes? hours? days? years? Does he have to wait for the trees to grow? Does he grow them from seed? From saplings? And he launches himself towards the trees, having placed ropes between them? And he uses the ropes to bounce off? Does he attach the ropes himself? Does he mesh the branches together into some sort of special shape? |
