Why did a newspaper wrongly report that a former sports star had died in England while playing the trumpet? |

Is the subject of the article a H? A? M? Was the newspaper's error that he had died? he had died in England? that he was playing the trumpet? Is there something in the sports star's name that punningly suggests he played the trumpet or some other instrument e.g. Greg Blewitt? Did he actually play the trumpet at any stage of his life. |

Will discovering the exact location in England help us solve? The first thing that popped into my head was maybe she was from Tooting but that would be more like a horn than a trumpet. Was the newspaper's error a result of mishearing a word/phrase (like a mondegreen) ?misunderstanding a word/phrase? Is her age at death relevant? Did the paper mention what she was playing at the time of her death? relevant? |

* * * SPOILER * * * Peter, Will discovering the exact location in England help us solve? The first thing that popped into my head was maybe she was from Tooting.... SHE WAS FROM TOOTING. A BULGARIAN NEWSPAPER TRANSLATED A REPORT THAT SHE HAD DIED IN TOOTING BY STATING THAT SHE HAD DIED WHILE PLAYING THE TRUMPET. WELL DONE PETER |

Oh my goodness. Please believe me when I say that was just an attempt at wit and not remotely a guess at the solution. Sorry for spoiling so early. Great puzzle. BTW Who was the deceased? |

Oops sorry Bodo and to Horn toot... blowers everywhere. Although in Ireland when driving and wanting to show your displeasure at a fellow motorists behaviour (and sometimes to warn of potential danger) we TOOT OUR HORNS!! Should I lobby for a change to this expression. |
