Swiping Nimue's brilliant scrund idea! =) For the longest time, when the topic of gambling came up, I would tell everyone my two favorite games to play. (Blackjack is one), but when I mentioned the other, I'm amazed no one ever thought I was nuts! What did I tell them? |

Did you just say another name for Blackjack? In Ireland we call Blackjack Pontoon or 21. If not is the other game a card game? dice? or playing a machine that is programmed to pay out less than it takes in like video poker or fruit machines. |

Did you just say another name for Blackjack? In Ireland we call Blackjack Pontoon or 21. Pontoon, hmm? Interesting! But no, it has nothing to do with Blackjack If not is the other game a card game? dice? or playing a machine that is programmed to pay out less than it takes in like video poker or fruit machines. Suprisingly, none of these either =) |

Is the other game one we would know as a Vegas-type game. And was the scrund due to mispronouncing it? |

Were you mistaken in any way? Or were they? Were you mistaken in thinking that this was a gambling game? Was it a game that you had gambled on, and people normally don't? Is the thing you mention a game at all? If so, does it involve cards? |

Does your second form of gambling actually have to do with a table top game? relationships (taking a chance on a girl)? playing the stock market? some other risky game or behavior? |

God i hope one of Woodworm's guesses is right...Texas Oldham just love it. Is it any machine that involves putting coins into it? Just reading the puzzle statement there are two ways of interpreting it 1. The Scrund is that you played something which you mistakenly thought was a gambling game or 2. You gambled at a game and thought you were the only one who did and therefore were surprised when nobody reacted when you told them when in fact they had also gambled at this game. So is it no. 1 or 2. Hope that made sense. |

Is the other game one we would know as a Vegas-type game. It's in most casinos, yes. And was the scrund due to mispronouncing it? Not so much mispronouncing as naming it incorrectly Blackgammon? Texas Oldham? Caribbean Spud? Roulade? Cramps? LOL, sadly, none of these, but one is close Were you mistaken in any way?YES Or were they? No Were you mistaken in thinking that this was a gambling game? Oh, they both are Was it a game that you had gambled on, and people normally don't? I have never done the gambling I said I did, but the other form yes. And other people do the scrund gambling too. Is the thing you mention a game at all? Yes If so, does it involve cards? No Does your second form of gambling actually have to do with a table top game? The real gambling that I thought I was reffering to, yes, yes relationships (taking a chance on a girl)? playing the stock market? No to rest some other risky game or behavior? The scrund gambling is! God i hope one of Woodworm's guesses is right...Texas Oldham just love it. I know! Is it any machine that involves putting coins into it? Nope Just reading the puzzle statement there are two ways of interpreting it 1. The Scrund is that you played something which you mistakenly thought was a gambling game No or 2. You gambled at a game and thought you were the only one who did and therefore were surprised when nobody reacted when you told them when in fact they had also gambled at this game. ...no So is it no. 1 or 2. Hope that made sense. Nope, Actually.... I played a gambling game, but mistakenly (did I spell that right?) called it by another name. This name is also a gambling game, although NOT the kind you would EVER find in a legal casino. It would help to figure out the Real gambling game, then it should easily fall into place. |

So you didn't mispronounce Roulette but called it a totally different name.. yes? e.g. like Wheel of fortune or spin the wheel? |

Russian Roulette? Indeed!! Good job! I believe that calls for a... ****************SPOILER!!!!******************** When I was asked about what gambling games I enjoy playing, I said Blackjack and Russian Roulette, which I thought was what you actually call it. Little did I know that this is the name of the game you play with a single bullet in a gun! Good thing others realized my scrund, but I wish they would have told me instead of laughing about it... Oh well. Good job to everyone that helped solve, and to Lynne for getting it! Now, go ask questions on my Home Decor puzzle, pleeeeeeeeease! |

I'm curious, Blazingphoenix, how DID you finally learn your mistake and figure out what Russian Roulette really was? I have a feeling this could be an entertaining story in itself. |

I was talking about it to my sister, and she gave me this horrified, "ARE YOU SEROUS!?" kind of look. Naturally I was confused, so I had her explain, and felt really stupid afterwards. It just goes to show you should learn what something is called before you blather about it to everyone.... ...Texas Oldham, Lol! |
