If it had been warmer, which part(s) of the statement (if any) is/are invalidated: That John had to tell Tom? That the news was sad? That Tom had more work? Non-physical work - this equates to not manual labor (labour, for you (: ); correct? Did it still correlate to physical effort of some kind? Did Dan have to write more? Think more? Sad = Actual grief? Or was it something like, "Sad news, I lost your favorite pen?" Would Tom have any other emotions at this news, such as: Fear? Anger? Frustration? Happiness? Annoyance? Surprise? Did John have any of these emotions, including sadness, and if so, for the same reasons as Tom? Is John responsible for whatever happened? Is Tom? Did whatever happened occur during or because of the cold, or was it only discovered/could only be dealt with in the cold? Would either of them have expected it to be cold, or was there reason to expect warmth instead? Did they know that cold was in some way responsible? Did John personally discover the situation that meant sad news? |

* * * SPOILER * * * Kaygee cracked it. A-Ha! The organic product is "paper". And John mistakenly burned Tom's manuscript in the fireplace/stove in order to heat the room. In 1837, the writer Thomas Carlyle finished his 800 page manuscript, A History of the French Revolution. He gave the only copy to his friend, the philosopher, John Stuart Mill, who left it on his desk. The next morning, Mill’s maid mistook the manuscript for waste paper and used it to light the fire. Mill abjectly apologised to Carlyle who then wrote out the whole work again. Well done to all who took part in this marathon effort. |
