Because of this she went to see a nurse? She went to the doctor, and the doctor sent her to a lab. As part of the examination the nurse took blood from her? Yes. and discovered thus the paradox?Yes. Did the woman feel pain? Sorta. See note below. Is any cardiovascular disease relevant? Yesish. Note: The woman had the flu, but something else was discovered when she went to the doctor. The doctor sent her to get a blood test, where something else happened. You should find out what was discovered by the doctor, and what happened at the blood test. Did she faint during the blood test? Close enough. See spoiler below. lose circulation in her arm? Spoiler: This is a true story that happened approx. two weeks ago. Our hero (me lol) went to the doctor's to diagnose the cause of a fever. I had extreme anxiety about going to the doctor's office, which led my blood pressure to rise upon examination. Believing that this was caused by a pre-diagnosed thyroid problem, the doctor sent me to have a blood test. Well, this was a big mistake, because my anxiety over going the doctor's was actually a symptom of my being extremely fearful of needles. Upon entering the laboratory chair, I began to hyperventilate, despite my efforts to put on a calm facade. The lab technician told me, "I know you're going to pass out, so just get it over with so we can do what we have to do." He even brought out the smelling salts, made me lay down, and called for backup. Thus, the paradox. An anxiety attack generally leads to an increase in blood pressure (read: the scenario at the doctor's office). However, in this case, it led to a visible drop in blood pressure. The story has a happy ending. I finally got myself together and we were able to do what we have to do. Unfortunately, my doctor called yesterday and said I have to go to a thyroid specialist, which will lead to more blood tests. Uh-oh. | ||

I used to have a problem like that, except that I would feel faint after getting up following a blood test. Sometimes, strangely enough, I would even feel dizzy again later in the day if I didn't remove the tape they put over the puncture site and my shirt pulled on it. So it wasn't simply the blood being drawn that caused my problem. Laying down for the test and a little while later helped a lot, but now I don't have the problem anymore so it doesn't matter. | ||
