If his favorite sports team were a basketball team instead of a soccer team, he would not have been arrested. Explain. |

Is nationality important? Is soccer vs. football important? Is location important? Is he in America? Somewhere else? Does it matter which particular soccer team he liked? Does it matter whether he watches his favorite sports team live at the stadium? In a bar? At home? Is race/ethnicity important? |

Is he in the middle east? Does this have to with an action he performed? Ie kicking a soccer ball with the iraqi flag on it? Is cheering or chanting relevant? Is the arresting police officer's favorite sport relevant? Least favorite? Does arrested mean taken to jail or prison for an alleged crime committed? |

Is there only one basketball team that he could have suported that wouldn't have gotten him arrested? Was he watching a game when he performed the arrestable offense? Wearing team merchandise? Imitating a favorite player? Or was he arrested for not doing something? Is he in Libya? Morocco? Tunisia? Algeria? Ethiopia? Will getting the country help me at all (assuming I'm not an expert on Northern African systems of law)? |

About the yesish/yope on the royalty question... Did he insult the present government? A coup about to overthrow the current one? Or one that already has? Did he insult a king? Queen? Dictator? President? Someone in the military? ...or is "insult" the wrong word to use? About the American basketball team... Is the team name important? Are the team colors important? The team's hometown? The way a fan would cheer for that team? (like Atlanta fans doing the Tomahawk for the Braves in baseball) About the internal conflict I asked about earlier.... Was there a civil war? Was there bloodshed in the streets? Were people in danger at the time? Was there a bitter feud between soccer teams? Basketball teams? |

Did he support the team by wearing its colors/logo, and this was considered inappropriate somehow? Are his specific actions relevant, or could he have done just anything that smacked of supporting the team and gotten in trouble for it? For example, if he supported a Catholic team, wore its jersey, and walked into a Protestant neighborhood of Glasgow, this might be seen as intent to incite a riot and get him arrested. :p |

I just emailed smartyllama to confirm that this is indeed what I believed it to be, and he has given me consent to take it over. So I will. In that case, here comes a list! Is it something he said? or something he physically did? Did he say the soccer team was the greatest, which offended the King, but if he had said the Kings were the greatest he would have been ok? |

Is it something he said? or something he physically did? Well, he wrote it Did he say the soccer team was the greatest, which offended the King, but if he had said the Kings were the greatest he would have been ok? Close enough. I might as well tell you ****SPOILER***** A schoolchild in Morocco was arrested last year for writing "God, Country, Barca" on the chalkboard in his school, that being both a cheer for his favorite team, FC Barelona, as well as a parody on "God Country King" which is Morocco's national motto. So, had he been a fan of the Sacramento Kings (hey, maybe that would make 3) he would have been OK. |
