Had they thought she was alive? Yes. Were they present at the time? Yes. Had she been alive shortly before they found her dead? Yes. Did they see her die but thought something else was going on? Yope. Are "they" people who have never met her? Again, this depends on your definition of "met", but assuming you mean shaking hands and saying "hello, my name is X", then some of them are. Never seen her in person? No. Never seen her at all? No. Are they her godparents? No. Were they surprised specifically by the fact that she was dead? Yes. By the fact that she ever existed? No. By the conditions surrounding her death? Could you reword this, please? Before she died, was she under five years old? under 10? Under 10. |

Wasn't going the for the list just to see if the statement had any FA's. The list was just for a little LTPF bottom of the page pop-culture. So we cleared that it is not a test environment, correct? And that she is the only one being observed, correct? And that some how their direct interaction caused her to die unnaturally with out injury, correct? and that this interaction would not normally cause death, correct? Dose the situation have any sort of religious basis? Was her means of death asphyxiation of some kind? |

Is it made of plastic? Is it a container of some kind Would the object commonly be found inside the home? Can i buy it? if so would it normally come as a single item or several in one pack? Might i use this object on a daily basis if i were 7? if i were a member of "them"? Was "she" injured in any way prior to her death by events unrelated to what caused her death? Did "they" give "her" the item she choked on? did they force her to ingest it (or rather attempt to)? did "she" resist "them"? was there a fight or scuffle? did they encourage "her" to ingest it? was it something that she has ingested before? I've been working so hard on trying to find some facts to this puzzle that will cause me to have an epiphany, that if some one else comes along and puts this all together before me at this point i would be sad. |

Are 'they' present when she swallowed the item? Was she told to swallow it? Is medication involved? I.E: Her mom told her to swallow the pill, but the daughter decided to swallow the plastic and paper/cardboard that the pill was wrapped in. Little did she know, the plastic was poisoned, and the poison constricted her air passages. When her mother told the doctors in the hospital that she had died, they were like, "Oh! We are very surprised. The pill is not harmful." I don't know. I'm tired. :[ |

BLUE! I actually have no clue about how tracheal tubes work, and this is really Flemsneezy's puzzle, so I'll leave it alone. |

Is it relevant why 'they' didn't know that she died? Was the injection a painkiller / something that made her not-feel the tracheal tube? Was it anesthesia? Did she not make a sound? Did she die during the procedure? And not know she was dead until after it was completed? |

She was unconscious and thus made no sound. Did she die during the procedure? During the intubation? No. She died shortly afterwards. And not know she was dead until after it was completed? So yes. |

WOW i thought that was a for sure no... Recap: A little girl is in some sort of accident and is injured and ends up in a hospital. At the hospital a tracheal tube is inserted (is the tube inserted through the mouth or via tracheotomy). this tube is then blocked (is the blockage caused in the tracheal tube the plastic item from before? or was that referring to the tube itself?) causing the girl to suffocate and die. |

A little girl is in some sort of accident and is injured and ends up in a hospital. How she ended up in hosptial isn't relevant, so we'll assume it was an accident. At the hospital a tracheal tube is inserted (is the tube inserted through the mouth or via tracheotomy). I believe tracheotomies and intubation are two different procedures involving different equipment; this was an intubation, inserted through the mouth. this tube is then blocked Correct. (is the blockage caused in the tracheal tube the plastic item from before? or was that referring to the tube itself? The plastic object we've been referring to thus far is the tube itself: however, you're correct in thinking the blockage is a plastic object.) causing the girl to suffocate and die. Correct. |

So the object now blocking the tube is also plastic? was this object accidentally slid down the tube/placed over the tube? was it part of some follow up procedure that comes after a intubation? and that procedure is what went wrong? |

Was the plastic object something she swallowed? A pacemaker? |

So whatever that got clogged messed up the operation, so she later died because the operation was unsuccessful? Is it clogged from inside the girl or outside? I'm assuming it's a piece of trash like a candy wrapper or something, maybe a bracelet. |

And they were we because the operation was supposed to succeed? And because of the anesthesia, she appeared asleep when she was really dead. |

Is that last even necessary, or just the knowledge that it is in fact blocked? Did i get caught up in the facts of the case and forget the puzzle I'm actually trying to solve? God damn i hate it when that happens. |

So whatever that got clogged messed up the operation, so she later died because the operation was unsuccessful? FA. You're very close, though. Is it clogged from inside the girl or outside? The tube was clogged before it was inserted into the girl. I'm assuming it's a piece of trash like a candy wrapper or something, maybe a bracelet. None of these. And they were surprised because the operation was supposed to succeed? Yope. And because of the anesthesia, she appeared asleep when she was really dead. Yes. Was the plastic object lodged in the tube another piece of medical equipment? Yes. Is that last even necessary, or just the knowledge that it is in fact blocked? It's relevant. Did i get caught up in the facts of the case and forget the puzzle I'm actually trying to solve? God damn i hate it when that happens. Haha, I think you stand a good chance of solving it now. Go ahead and piece everything together. |

A girl needed an operation. She was given an anesthetic and during her operation, doctors inserted a tube into her trachea. Little did they know, they left the cover on, so the operation was a complete failure. She died later that day, and because she was under anesthesia, she appeared to be asleep when she was actually dead. Doctors were surprised because she wasn't supposed to have died after the surgery. |

She died later that day, and because she was under anesthesia, she appeared to be asleep when she was actually dead. Doctors were surprised because she wasn't supposed to have died after the surgery. You've pretty much got it. ****************SPOILER************** Intubation is common practice during operations; by inserting a tube into the trachea, the anaesthetist can manually control the patient's breathing. In this case, a plastic cap had become lodged in one of the intubation tubes, and this tube was then inserted into a little girl as she was prepared for surgery. With her airway completely blocked, she died -- surprising the incompetent anaesthetist who had failed to realise the tube was blocked in the first place. Thanks for playing, folks. Though Pika, you do realise Flem is going to murder you now? |

No it's all good, i was already thinking about the cap but i like to narrow down to it before i make conjectures (unless i find the conjecture very amusing). It was the answer i would have ended up at if i wouldn't have had to work in the morning. Good puzzle though. |

God, that's so sad! Did that really happen (I've heard worse stories of freak surgical accidents, but still...) |
