So why did the police order the ambulance mission: There was no police car available? There were no policemen available? A police car would have been too eye-catching? A normal car would not have been sufficiently eye-catching? They expected the potential robbers to react in a certain way on the ambulance (which they did not)? It would have taken too long to check each of the 15 banks entering with police officers? They had no strong suspicion and there hands were tied? NO - BUT CLOSE Are the police listening in on CB frequencies, hoping that a lookout for the robbers will give them a heads-up that an ambulance passed, and based on the timing pinpoint their location? EXACTLY This is a scene from the film the Bank Job starring Jason Statham. It is based in the 1970s in London. The gang tunnelled into a bank vault one Saturday night. They had a look-out posted outside the bank who could warn them of any danger. The police overhead some of the conversations that took place on the robbers' CB radio but they had no idea which bank was being robbed. Sending a police car to each bank might scare the gang off so they sent an ambulance in the hope that it would trigger a message from the lookout and so reveal the bank's location. Unfortunately for them the lookout dropped his handset just as he went to report the ambulance so the gang got away. | ||
