Was it safe to get out? Yes. The question - is it coming from the tank crew? Yes. Sir - their superior? Irrelevant, but assume yes. Is he in the tank? Yes. Are the persons asking in the tank? Yes. I misremembered the quote used in the puzzle statement, but it doesn't change anything above. The correct statement is: "Is it OK to get out now, Skip?" |

Is it during war time? Practice? Did they recently encounter an enemy? Were they under attack? So they asked Skip if it was safe... Does Skip know more than the asking people? Because he can see more than the others? Or does Skip have more experience and is therefore asked if it's safe? Or did they ask Skip because he's in a higher rank? Or a different reason? Or they asked him by coincidence? |

Is there a non-human animal in the tank? No. Is it during war time? Yes. Practice? Yes. Did they recently encounter an enemy? Were they under attack? No to both. So they asked Skip if it was safe... Does Skip know more than the asking people? Because he can see more than the others? Or does Skip have more experience and is therefore asked if it's safe? Or did they ask Skip because he's in a higher rank? Primarily this, but the previous questions can be answered yes as well. Or a different reason? No. Or they asked him by coincidence? No. |

Did they know whether their tank was moving or not? Does the type of tank matter (modern, old)? Was it a normal training, or did it have special significance? |

Did the people inside the tank somehow think they were in a real combat situation/not realize it was only training? No. Or was the question about getting out part of their training? To a minor effect. Did the supervisor expect to get that question? Probably not. Were they training strategies? Noish. Was it a manned glider being towed? Did it crash? Into the ground? Another aircraft? Destroyed by a weapon? Structural weakness/failure caused by the stress of normal operation? Abnormal operation? Was it towed behind an aircraft? Vehicle? Winch/catapult? Was it being used in an experimental fashion? Did its occupant(s) die? Is the purpose of the aircraft: reconnaissance attacking other aircraft attacking tanks attacking buildings? attacking infantry? Other? How many people could fit in that aircraft? 1? 2? etc? Does it have wings? Rotor blades? Can it transform, such as a heli-plane (they probably didn't have that back then)? Is the role of the other aircraft relevant? Were those aircraft of the same type? Relevant? |

Was it a manned glider being towed? Yes. Did it crash? Yes. Into the ground? Yes. Another aircraft? No. Destroyed by a weapon? No. Structural weakness/failure caused by the stress of normal operation? Arguable. Abnormal operation? No. Was it towed behind an aircraft? Yes. Vehicle? Yes. Winch/catapult? No to both. Was it being used in an experimental fashion? Irrelevant. Did its occupant(s) die? No. Did they expect/fear/know the aircraft could be destroyed, making the tank the safest place to stay for the moment? Yope. Or did the aircraft represent a danger to unprotected people on the ground during its normal operation? No. Is the purpose of the aircraft: reconnaissance attacking other aircraft attacking tanks attacking buildings? attacking infantry? Other? This. How many people could fit in that aircraft? 1? 2? etc? 30. Does it have wings? Yes. Rotor blades? No. Can it transform, such as a heli-plane (they probably didn't have that back then)? No. Is the role of the other aircraft relevant? Yes. Were those aircraft of the same type? No. Relevant? Yes. |

Was the tank at/near the end of a runway, with one or more planes, some/all with gliders in tow, taking off overhead? Were they transport gliders? |

Did the glider have the tank inside it during its flight? Yes. **************** Spoiler **************** The 6th Airborne Armoured Renaissance Regiment (what a mouthful!) was the only unit ever to fly tanks into battle. There was much trial and error before it actually happened. The story goes that a newbie driver and his tank were loaded into a glider for a training flight, and the crew was ordered not to get out of the tank for anything until ordered. The glider was utterly demolished on landing, and the tank actually flew a hundred feet through the air and crashed into a house. Amazingly, the tank came out of this ordeal completely intact. After the driver plaintively asked his commander (or "skipper"), "Is it OK to get out now, skip?" |

Hahaha, this was good. I would never think it could have such a lateral solution. :-)) THank you, Jenburdoo! |
