Because of one advertisement, I thought that a second advertisement was advertising a product different from what it was actually advertising, but not because I confused the first product with the second or vice versa. |

Any wordplay involved? Maybe the same word or phrase took two different meanings in the contexts of the two advertisements? Is the TV Channel or the Pizza company advert. by a specific organisation? Or could it be any broadcaster and pizzeria? Did you see the two advertisements directly one after the other? Or was there an appreciable time gap involved (more than a few seconds)? If there was a time gap, did something significant happen in between, that somehow caused you to have this view? Was the second ad for a new variety of pizza? Was it about anything related to the pizza specifically (like a new crust, or a new topping)? Was it about the company opening another outlet? Was it about a special offer (like buy 1 get 1 free)? |

Did the two advertisements appear linked because of two different phrases they used? Did one happen to begin a familiar phrase that the other happened to finish? Was the pizza ad about the fact that they were selling a new type of food? If so, breadsticks? Pasta? Salad? Soup? Soda? Fries? Were they advertising some special feature of their pizzas? If so, cheese in the crust? Thick crust? Thin crust? A pizza based on a regional favorite? Is the type of TV channel being advertised relevant? If so, children's? Movie? Sports?Weather? Comedy? No So wait a minute... one ad seemed to contain a phrase that was the end of a sentence started in the other, but whether they were on one after the other was irrelevant? BLOOPER: The answer to "Did one happen to begina familiar phrase that the other happened to finish" should be NO. |

When did you find out it was for 2 different products? During the 2nd commercial? After? I never believed the two ads were for the same product So, each of them used a different phrase, but these made the two ads seem linked? The phrases were similar Were the phrases in the same general category? Yes, they were in a similar format If so, were they proverbs? Phrases specific to commercials? To buying/selling? Similies or metaphors? Jokes? This is another one that I can't think of any way to get without a lot of tedious guessing. I'll tell you that the first ad was for HBO, and it had the slogan: "It's not TV. It's HBO." What's left is to figure out what the other one was.

Did the other ad contain the phrase, "It's not A. It's B." If so: "It's not pizza, it's _______"? Or "It's not fast food, it's ________"? Or did it contain an oppositely structured sentence, like, "It's A, not B" ? Assuming the second ad took the "It's not" format, did you think it was advertising what it said "it" wasn't? Did you think the second ad was for a food? A TV channel other than HBO? Something else entertainment-related? |

Assuming the second ad took the "It's not" format, did you think it was advertising what it said "it" wasn't? Yes Spoiler: The second ad was "It's not delivery. It's DiGiorno's." DiGiorno's is a brand of frozen pizza crusts. I thought it was a pizza delivery service and the ad was meant to imply that it was better than other pizza delivery, but really it was an ad for frozen pizza and the ad meant that it was just as good as delivery. |
