I think we have still have some confusion about these pronouns. I'm going to try rephrasing the puzzle statement with proper names. Which of the following is correct? - Catching George successfully was the hard part. Now Paul knew George would win. - Catching George successfully was the hard part. Now George knew Paul would win. - Catching George successfully was the hard part. Now Paul knew Ringo would win. Would it be accurate to rephrase the first sentence of the puzzle as "Catching George successfully was the hard part for Paul?" Now: Is George H/A/M? Is Paul H/A/M? Is Ringo H/A/M (if applicable)? |

Is this based on a real event? Movie/book/similar? FYOI? Are Paul and George equals as far as the puzzle is concerned? Or does it start out with one being the hunter and the other the hunted? Is George captured: in a trap? By gunpoint (or other weapon)? Is Paul working alone? Is George? does this happen in: [LTPF list of centuries], [LTPF list of continents]? |

Is this based on a real event? It is part of an event Movie/book/similar? possibly FYOI? Nope, but the situtation could be unlikely Are Paul and George equals as far as the puzzle is concerned? possibly equal in physical characteristicsOr does it start out with one being the hunter and the other the hunted? NopeIs George captured: in a trap? Somewhat a trapBy gunpoint (or other weapon)? He was captured by a weapon. Is Paul working alone?yes Is George? yes does this happen in: [LTPF list of centuries], [LTPF list of continents]? <b> Not too sure what LTPF means, (i'm still new to this) so if you can elaborate for me it would be appreciated. By my best interpretation, from the 1st century AD on to about the 11th Century AD; European Areas |

LTPF=this forum. Instead of asking 1st BC, 2nd BC....21st BC and so on, we ask [LTPF list of centuries]. I see you already got the gist of it. Were they enemies? Some sort of duel relevant? Vikings relevant? Roman empire? Gladiator games? Like the one where one gladiator is trying to trap another in a net? If not, is a net relevant? Snare? Cage? Pit? |

When = which century? Irrel. which century. It has to occur in the time frame however. Which well known gladiator match? This situation could occur in any match with one specific gladiator inside the fight. No well known scenario however. |

So what is left to figure out before the spoiler? Type of gladiator?, Yes Retiarii fought with nets. Exatcly This seems enough for me to post a *****************SPOILER****************** Our characters in this puzzle is a Retiarius gladiator and has ensnared is opponent in a net. Seeing as the caught opponent cannot free himself, the Retiarius (Paul in this puzzle) knows he shall win the match. Well done Galfisk for solving the puzzle |
