Over the past few weeks, several people I see every day changed a certain specific aspect of their regular routine. It is likely they will change back this week. Why? (May be really hard, but I just HAD to do this one) |

Oh, I forgot to bold. But that was a puzzle statement, in case you couldn't tell. |

These people you see everyday = family? colleagues? friends? Valentine's Day relevant? This aspect of their regular routine: is it related to something we all do? eg brushing our teeth, having a shower, brushing our hair? etc? something they do usually in the morning? afternoon? night? |

Not all eg brushing our teeth, having a shower, brushing our hair? etc? but these are very much OTRT, just they're all more common than the answer something they do usually in the morning? afternoon? night? It may be done any of these times |

Does this have to do with weather? The date? Valentine's Day? Money? Food or eating? |

Is your occupation relevant? Yes (insert LTPF list of job fields) Scientific research Country relevant? (insert LTPF list of countries) Yes, United States, though I hear this phenomenon is spreading... Did you see them during those past few weeks? Before that? After that? Yes to all, they are colleagues and I am working the same place as I did before the relevant period Does this have to do with weather? No The date? The date of what? There is a relevant date Valentine's Day? ...but not this one Money? No Food or eating? I assume you mean the changed habit, so no. Is it shaving? Yesish. I think Noel may have an advantage here. |

I have no idea why I would have an advantage. Shaving just seemed to be the next logical guess after your answers on your post 656. Is it shaving facial hair? Shaving leg hair? Shaving some other body hair? Mardi Gras relevant? The Olympics? A certain sports season beginning? or ending? Is the specific scientific field relevant? |

Oh, I realize that you said "yesish" to shaving, not "yes." Is it waxing hair, rather than shaving? Is it actually NOT shaving, rather than shaving? Is it beard trimming? Are your relevant colleagues all male? all female? mixed? |

I have no idea why I would have an advantage. Shaving just seemed to be the next logical guess after your answers on your post 656. I see. You have posted quite some puzzles about biology, which made me think you might be a biologist, and then when you made that leap I guessed you might know the answer. Is it shaving facial hair? Yes, though even a little more specific than that Shaving leg hair? No Shaving some other body hair? No Mardi Gras relevant? The Olympics? A certain sports season beginning? or ending? No to all Is the specific scientific field relevant? No Oh, I realize that you said "yesish" to shaving, not "yes." Is it waxing hair, rather than shaving? Is it actually NOT shaving, rather than shaving? Well, the change WAS not shaving something that they would otherwise shave. Is it beard trimming? No to the rest. The "ish" was simply because it is not shaving a very specific part of the body that is relevant. Are your relevant colleagues all male? This for the changing routine, only because the women don't grow facial hair when they don't shave. Some female colleagues did something else for the relevant occasion, however. all female? mixed? President's Day? Lent? New Years' Resolutions? No to all of these I know January was Don't Shave Your Beard month.... The answer is even sillier than this... |

Did they stop shaving for health reasons, so that they wouldn't have tiny nicks in their skin? Is attaching something to the skin relevant? Or trying to prevent something from getting on the skin? Were they going for a certain look/aesthetic purpose? Were they not shaving beards? Sideburns? Moustaches? Unibrow? Other excess hair? Did they need beards to stroke thoughtfully? |

No Or trying to prevent something from getting on the skin? No Were they going for a certain look/aesthetic purpose? Yesish. Remember, the reason is rather silly, and a specific date is relevant. Were they not shaving beards? Sideburns? Moustaches? Only this one is relevant Unibrow? Other excess hair? Did they need beards to stroke thoughtfully? No |

Were the mustaches they weren't shaving a particular style of mustaches? Such as handlebar? A type of mustaches popular in a historic time period? Were they actors? Is a bet relevant? Are any sports relevant? |

Is a pun involved? Is it relevant that February is a short month? Were the mustaches they weren't shaving a particular style of mustaches? Such as handlebar? A type of mustaches popular in a historic time period? Were they actors? Is a bet relevant? Are any sports relevant? Unfortunately, no to all the questions in these three paragraphs. I think you might be expecting more of an "answer" than the real answer, so I will clarify. The beards were left unshaven for a svv. holiday that occurred sometime from the 12th to the 15th of February. The name of this "holiday" mentions a mustache, but can you think of the other part? You already have the rest of the information, in fact, you just need to figure out what the other key word is. |

Should people do something with their mustache on this day? Twirl it? Curl it? Style it? Grow it? Shave it? Wash it? Do battle with it? Is it enough to simply have a mustache? To have a mustache of a certain description? |

Is the holiday regionally celebrated? If so, where would it be celebrated? [LTPF list of continents]See above. Primarily the United States, but it seems to be spreading Should people do something with their mustache on this day? Yesish, but in a different sense than the following Twirl it? Curl it? Style it? Grow it? This is true only because without growing it, it wouldn't exist Shave it? Wash it? Do battle with it? Is it enough to simply have a mustache? Yesish or yope, depending on how you look at it To have a mustache of a certain description? Irr. |

I've read something like this before. Is the abbreviation IFMD relevant? (I'm condensing the full name only because I don't want to give away the answer in the unlikely event that I'm right). |

Is the abbreviation IFMD relevant? That's not the one I'm talking about, but is probably a similar idea. I think you have the last two letters right, and I'm guessing that the "I" in your example stands for "international". This is a "national" one, and there's no F anywhere. |

So there is a national day for moustaches? Is it just for biologists? Do the women wear fake moustaches? Is it in protest of something? Someone? Is it in celebration of something? Someone? So did you grow a moustache? ;o |

Mustache + Scientific research + National mustache day. A bit of googling revealed "National Lab Mustache Day" The men can choose to grow a mustache or wear a flamboyant fake one to show respect to various mustached scientists. The women I hear usually wear fake ones or alter photographs. Sounds fun! |

A bit of googling revealed "National Lab Mustache Day" Yes, that's it. I didn't participate except for wearing a fake one for a few minutes. But it was a nice little excuse to take a break from experiments and have a drink or two. Now don't ask me where the idea for this one came from! |
