Is it to do with the state itself? Its name? Its location? The people who live there? Their politics? The way they live? Are there similar scrunds for other states? If not, could there be? Is it significant that the scrund's about the whole state? Could you have this scrund about a county, or city? |

Is it to do with the state itself? Its name? Its location? The people who live there? this. Their politics? this too. The way they live? Are there similar scrunds for other states? maybe. If not, could there be? I don't know. Is it significant that the scrund's about the whole state? Could you have this scrund about a county, or city? It is actually about one part of the state. Anything to do with the difficulty people have spelling it ? not at all. |

Does it have to do with elections? Statistics? Political parties? The makeup of the electorate? Or the government? |

Anything to do with the Boston Tea Party? Tea party in general (new or old)? To do with Boston? Anything to do with Scott Brown? I have to ask... Massachusetts Drivers? Western Mass? A specific city? Northampton or Amherst? Boston accents? Different cultures that live in a certain city? Their political affiliations? |

Might I never have had this scrund, seeing as I lived there for some time? So, is it that western mass people are more liberal than the rest of Mass? The rest of the country? That there is a large gay/lesbian population? Anything to do with any of the 5 colleges? Race involved? |

Might I never have had this scrund, seeing as I lived there for some time? you lived in Northampton/Amherst? You wouldn't have had this scrund while living there, unless you stayed locked in your bedroom all day. So, is it that western mass people are more liberal than the rest of Mass? no. VERY close. The rest of the country? no. That there is a large gay/lesbian population? no. Anything to do with any of the 5 colleges? no. Race involved? no. |

So... is it that Western Mass people are less liberal than the rest of Mass? I can't think of a single scrund I had about that place before I visited there for the first time. I can't even remember knowing it existed really. Hmmmm. Is it that Western Mass people are more progressive liberals than the rest of Mass? Younger population relevant? |

********SPOILER************** So... is it that Western Mass people are less liberal than the rest of Mass? Exactly. I heard it repeated a few times during the Scott Brown campaign. However, a quick look at the town-by-town results proves that this is false. The scrund is really annoying, as I live in Western Massachusetts. |

Living in Northern VA, most people here have the idea that, for better or for worse, we up here are the liberal elite and everywhere else is extremely right-wing Republican. I had the same scrund until I drove through the state during the latest election, and saw about the same distribution of campaign signs everywhere. |
