Was the rejoicing because of the juice? Or was the juice simply part of the celebration? Had juice been previously unavailable? Was the juice potable? |

Was the rejoicing because of the juice? Partly. Or was the juice simply part of the celebration? No. Had juice been previously unavailable? Yesish. Was the juice potable? No, good question. |

Were the things doing the rejoicing human? Adult? Male? Could the "juice" be replaced by something else, but a sufficiently similar amount of rejoicing would still occur? |

Does the juice come from a plant? Animal? Man-made item? The surrounding environment? Is "juice" being used at all in the electrical sense? Automotive? |

Are they particularly happy that it cannot be drunk...er...Drinken? Drank...Drunken?...Are they particularly happy that they can't drink it? Were they trying to get it from a plant? To find it elsewhere? To find out something about it? |

Is the juice useful? valuable? sacred? converted into anything? No to all. Are the rejoicing people scientists? One of them is a dabbling scientist. part of a tribe? actively seeking out the juice? No to both. Are they particularly happy that it cannot be drunk...er...Drinken? Drank...Drunken?...Are they particularly happy that they can't drink it? Haha, no they didn't expect it to be drinkable. Were they trying to get it from a plant? Not really. To find it elsewhere? To find out something about it? No to both. |

Would it be that they had nothing to drink until they found out that the juice was drinkable? Is the fact that most of them were male? What percentage of them were? Under 60? 70? 80? 90? Over that? Is there any other liquid (juice?) relevant here? |

Would it be that they had nothing to drink until they found out that the juice was drinkable? The juice is not drinkable. They do not lack other stuff to drink. Is the fact that most of them were male? It helps setting the scene. What percentage of them were? Under 60? 70? 80? 90? Over that? Not important. Hint: The stereotypical male is more inclined to rejoice at what happened than the stereotypical female. Is there any other liquid (juice?) relevant here? No. |

By "there was juice"--was the juice present in the same location as the rejoicing was occurring? Did they exist at the same point in time? Is the rejoicing in response to the juice being discovered? extracted from the plant? sold? Had this type of juice been created before, or was this the first time? Is the plant a tree? a shrub? a cereal/grain? |

It has been done before, but most of them just saw it happen for the first time, which is relevant. Is the plant a tree? a shrub? a cereal/grain? Neither. |

Is the plant a potato? some other kind of tuber? Is the root squeezed (to extract the juice)? broken open by cutting? placed in a vacuum? Was the rejoicing because the juice could be later used for something? Because the process of extraction itself looked impressive? Because it took a long time to discover this method of extracting the juice? |

Is the plant a potato? Assume this (it was a carrot in this case, but potatoes are more commonly used). some other kind of tuber? Is the root squeezed (to extract the juice)? Thisish. broken open This happens(ish) by cutting? placed in a vacuum? But neither of these. Was the rejoicing because the juice could be later used for something? Because the process of extraction itself looked impressive? This! Because it took a long time to discover this method of extracting the juice? |

Was the carrot (or potato) mashed? Was it impressive because it involved a guy using lots of brute strength? because someone was setting the Guinness world record for potato--or rather carrot--mashing? because it was being done by a Rube Goldberg machine? (I know the last one was random, but someone sent me a video of one the other day) |

Is it the mechanical pressing alone that causes the juice to come out or is it something else going on inside that we need to figure out? |

Is it the mechanical pressing alone that causes the juice to come out or is it something else going on inside that we need to figure out? FA: It's not being pressed (as in being squeezed between two surfaces). And the [not-squeezing] is not happening inside the [object]. |

Can I have a link to that video? Sure, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w As for the puzzle, are the potatoes being dropped from a height, such that they are squashed when they hit the floor? Is some other kind of impact of them on some hard object, or vice versa, relevant? Is the juice expelled all at once (as in the previous two questions), or over a period of time? |

Are they shot out of a cannon? This! Launched with a catapult? *******Spoiler******* I've brought my carrot gun to the skydiving club, shown it in action for the first time. With a loud crack it has just reduced a whole carrot to a splatter of juice and a few slivers of root, and most of the men (and a few of the women) are duly impressed. The cannon is made up of a soda bottle, a plastic pipe and an electrical spark system, and fires a carrot or small potato when lighter gas is ignited inside the bottle. Just another puzzle about one of my hobbies, hope you enjoyed it and thanks for playing! |
