I've been a bit quiet on the puzzle setting front recently so I'll throw in a quick Neologistic puzzle while I think of something more difficult I am someone who Jurples and I know many others that do too. I equally know some people who never jurple. Please define the verb to Jurple |

Would the following sentences make sense: -I jurpled her. Not this -We jurpled together. at a stretch this might. Strictly speaking yes but jurpling is more a sole activity -I jurple often at home. Yes insofar as you can jurple at home -She jurpled to him. Not this -It jurpled at me. Nor this ? |

Is it licking one's bowl/plate clean after a delicious meal? Ooh unlucky but unfortunately that's zurpling which is a first cousin of Jurpling. You're very close but not quite. Mind you some people think Jurpling is bad manners just like a delicious lick of a plate. So very much OTRT |

Licking a popsicle stick? Is the food permanently attached to the utensil until eaten (as in a popsicle or lollipop), or is the utensil only used to temporarily transfer the food (as in a spoon or fork carrying a bite of food)? Is the food in question sweet or savory? Meat, dairy, fruit, vegetable, or confection? Is it a packaged food? Sold from a cart? At the local zoo they have a sort of flavored potato treat that is cut up and attached to a stick (a little like a kabob). Anything like this? Is it a kabob stick? A marshmallow stick? |

Licking a popsicle stick? No but close again Is the food permanently attached to the utensil until eaten (as in a popsicle or lollipop), or is the utensil only used to temporarily transfer the food (as in a spoon or fork carrying a bite of food)? there is no relevant untensil. I realise i may have given the impression that it's a untensil with my "see above" answer earlier on. To clarify the thing you lick would not be described as a untensil Is the food in question sweet or savory? Meat, dairy,This in the majority of cases fruit, vegetable, or confection? Is it a packaged food? yes Sold from a cart? No At the local zoo they have a sort of flavored potato treat that is cut up and attached to a stick (a little like a kabob). Anything like this? Is it a kabob stick? A marshmallow stick? Nothing like this. The answer is probably less complicated than you might imagine |

Is jurpling usually done at the start of the eating process? Or the end? Is the goal of jurpling to get to food that would otherwise be wasted? Such as ice cream stuck on the wrapper? Or is jurpling done to make the food last longer? Can all ice cream be jurpled? If not, is the packaging relevant? |

Can only specific foods be jurpled? Only foods that come packaged with this inedible element? Is the inedible part internal or external to the edible part? Gah! I feel like we're right on top of this one and can't see it. |

Galfisk Is jurpling usually done at the start of the eating process? Or the end? Is the goal of jurpling to get to food that would otherwise be wasted? Such as ice cream stuck on the wrapper? Indeed this would fall under the definition of Jurpling Or is jurpling done to make the food last longer? Can all ice cream be jurpled? If not, is the packaging relevant? Balin Is it licking the yogurt, Jello, etc. off of the foil lid after opening the individual package, so as to get all of the tasty goodness This is exactly the definition I had in mind well done Jenburdoo Can only specific foods be jurpled? Only foods that come packaged with this inedible element? Is the inedible part internal or external to the edible part? Gah! I feel like we're right on top of this one and can't see it. You were right on top of it Kaygee Ah, you have singled out cold dairy products, so does jurpling mean licking one's arm? or hand? Hard luck Kaygee but in fact that is Murpling which is a first cousin once removed of Jurpling **************SPOILER**************** According to the Galfisk Balin 365 Dictionary the definition is : Jurple (verb) - To lick yogurt, jello or ice cream products from foil lids or paper wrappers prior to acutally eating said yogurt, jello or Ice Cream product. Jurpling can also be done with some chocolate or sticky candy bars Note in some cultures Jurpling is considered rude or bad mannered but your author will go to his grave defending the right of jurplers everywhere to jurple without fear of rebuke or punishment Thanks for playing and for all the great guesses |

Gee, I've just established I am a Jurpler, too ;-)). However, fellow Jurplers, are you aware of the risks of jurpling? I was once told that licking foil lids may cause deterioration of brain functions because they contain aluminum. Urban legend or not, it always comes to my mind when I jurple. Great puzzle, Peter, thanks! |

Don't worry Alhucema mobile phones will have killed off our brain function long before the effects of jurpling kick in. I will however change my answer to the question Galfisk asked on the 2/05 "Is jurpling dangerous?" from No to YOPE!! |

OMG, this is one instance when roles were reversed with my parents. I told my kids off for jurpling and my Mum said 'but we always do so as we don't want to waste anything'. And to think that I was only saying it because I thought that I 'ought' to. My brain functions won't deteriorate while I'm wearing my tin foil hat. |
