Was what the cat did deliberate? Did it do something TO the boyfriend and/or girlfriend, and if so, which one(s)? Or was it only indirectly responsible? Did the cat belong to one of them, and if so, which one? Are any of the following relevant: Race? Age? Location? Era? The cat's sex? Age? Breed? Whether it was neutered? Was it a domestic cat? A feral domestic cat? A wild cat? A tame wildcat? Was anyone or anything killed in the process? |

* * * SPOILER * * * The cat killed the homing pidgeon that was carrying a letter from him to her. We can assume that she was waiting for an unusually important letter, perhaps with the reply to a proposal. The female assumed that the male never sent a reply and thus wasn't interested in her anymore. Their relationship was ruined, but it could be that they managed to clear up this misunderstanding later on. =) A bit of research on the subject of homing pidgeons made me realize that it had to be HER bird, since homing pidgeons only fly one way - back home. He must have borrowed her bird to send it back. |
