Welcome to the forum! He = HAM? (Human, Adult, Male, in case you're not sure what that means.) He 1 = He 2? Are there other people involved? If so? 1? 2? 3? 4? 5? 10? 20? More? Does someone die? Become injured? Is there property damage? Physical damage to a person? Mental damage? Is his job important? Is he supposed to help? Did he see the problem and come over to try and help? |

Is penoptes some sort of snake? It might be, I do not know all the different kinds of snakes. The Penoptes in the tile is not a snake, though. Or other reptile? Maybe, but not this Penoptes. Is this relevant? The title is as vague of a hint as people usually make them on this site, so yes, it is vaguely relevant. Has the man been bitten by a creature? No |

Why don't we call the patient Emilio? Did Emilio go to the doctor only for treatment of his depression? Or for another problem? Is the doctor specifically a psychologist? Psychiatrist? General practitioner? Did he prescribe a medication? A therapist? A behavioral modification? Did the doctor realize Emilio was suffering from depression? As a result of the prescription, did his depression get worse? Stay the same? Improve? Did he commit suicide? Did he have another relevant condition? If so, did it get worse? Stay the same? improve? |

Did the medication negatively affect Emilio chemically? i.e. the chemical imbalance in the brain which causes depression became more dramatic as a direct result of the medication? Did it set off a chain of physical changes? Did it worsen the underlying cause of his depression (say, he was depressed because his wife was dead, and the name of the medication reminded him of her)? Did it set off a chain of events outside Emilio's body? |

Did the doctor prescribe a placebo? Quite right and Emilio realized, which made him more depressed that even the doctor didn't take his condition seriously? Almost, but close enough for a *******************SPOILER************** Emilio suffers from depression. He has worked as a doctor before, and when he comes home from the pharmacy and checks his medication, he finds he has bought obecalp (Or Cebocap). He realizes from his time as a doctor that they are sugar pills, sugar pills that won't work for him because placebo requires you to think they will work. Because he has used a lot of money on something that won't work, his depression gets worse. And then better again because this story has a happy ending. Thanks to Balin, Galfisk and Ohlala8 for trying to solve my first puzzle. And thanks to Biograd who got it on his first try, well done. |

The puzzles title was referring to the phrase "As sweet as sugar". Penoptes, or Panoptes is the epithet of Argus/Argos from Greek mythology. Argus is an anagram of sugar, just like placebo is an anagram of obecalp. Sorry for double post. I don't think I can edit my posts |
