Could this be related to the classic puzzle about the man who hangs himself by standing on a block of ice? Is it=ice? he=HAM? Did someone kill him? One person? or several? Was it suicide? True story? Time period relevant? (If so, [LTPF list of centuries]?) |

Did the fire ignite the explosive? Or did it melt the wax? Did the man know what was happening? Was he trying to stop it? Did the wax provide: an airtight seal? Electrical insulation? Was it part of a temperature sensor? Was it supposed to melt? To cause an explosion? Or was it just in the wrong place and time? |

But separated from the chemical by a wax seal? Did something other than water mix with the chemical? Something produced by the body? Such as sweat? Or saliva? Or stomach acid? Was it a ring? Chain? Piercing? Crown? Handcuff? Necklace? This-ish, but close enough; it was a medallion. Prosthetic? That's a **********SPOILER********** In the book Ark Angel, by Anthony Horowitz, a man is killed when, after losing a soccer game on a blown penalty kick, he is given a medallion by some of the bad guys. He puts on the medallion and goes to take a shower. However, the medallion is made of cesium, with a wax coating to protect it from the atmosphere. The wax melts in the shower, and the cesium medallion explodes, killing him. Kudos go to Fermat for some good questions early, and Galfisk for the rest. |
