Here's my attempt at a Peter365 pub-style "connections" puzzle, in which the setter gives three clues to objects etc. that are in some way connected. Your job is to figure out the connection. A comic book, two of me, and a zombie choir. |

Comic book: literally a book with comic strips in it? If so, do we have to find its name? Is it a one-character comic book, does it contain several stories with different character? |

Yope to "real choir" -- Is this because it's based on a real choir but fictionalized (like the way Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is a classic novel only... with zombies)? Two of me -- Me=you? Comic - book by a standup comic? Nonfiction comic? R. Crumb's comic-strip version of the Bible? |

No, me = me. Which may not make sense right now, but probably will when you figure this clue out. Comic - book by a standup comic? No Nonfiction comic? No R. Crumb's comic-strip version of the Bible? No - this is the closest guess so far, although it's not really close at all. |

No Fish = bream Driving at night = beam Think along these lines for the "driving at night" bit, but not "beam." And the title isn't one of the connections itself, but gives a big hint as to the connection itself. Me+me = meme Cartoon strip FA = eyebeam Zombie choir = Primal Scream? No to all of these |

Does the comic book tell a story? Is it a superhero adventure? Does the Zombie choir sing songs? Is it a group of people dressed as Zombies? Or the actual walking-dead from someone's imagination? (okay, heck, I wasn't going to ask...but here it goes anyway...) Are they REAL zombies? Does "Meme" mean a grandmother? |

The definition of "meme" that I'm referring to was definitely not thought of by Richard Dawkins when he coined the term, but is more used than the original definition now. |

I try not to do 'brute force' questioning, but I'm stuck! So: Lamps? Headlamps? Flares? Torches? Bulbs? Headlights? Spotlights? Spot lamps? There must be some other word for these but I can't think of it. I'll have another think before invoking the LTPF List of Fish. :-) Does the word for a fish also have another meaning? As in pike, skate, etc? (If the fish were getting on the bus rather than driving, it might be Skate Boarding.) |

There must be some other word for these but I can't think of it. I'll have another think before invoking the LTPF List of Fish. :-) Does the word for a fish also have another meaning? As in pike, skate, etc? It does, but its other meaning is a noun. (If the fish were getting on the bus rather than driving, it might be Skate Boarding.) Nice one...I'll tell you that the "fish driving in the dark" is taken literally - it is a "_________ with headlights." |

Heheh, yes. Poor Bonnie Tyler. There's a Glee Club Choir of the Damned in there. Can't remember a comic book, but it's so full of silly references, there must be one in there. I'll just have to go see it again :-) |

Heheh, yes. Poor Bonnie Tyler. There's a Glee Club Choir of the Damned in there. Can't remember a comic book, but it's so full of silly references, there must be one in there. I'll just have to go see it again :-) Not perfect, but definitely close enough. **********SPOILER********** The three things referred to the songs "Take on Me," "Never Gonna Give You Up," and "Total Eclipse of the Heart" - specifically, their music videos, which have been made into literal videos by fans. A literal video is made by replacing the song lyrics with those that describe the action going on in the music video. So the clues went as follows... A comic book -> "Take on Me" (the central element of the video) Two of me -> a meme -> Rickroll -> "Never Gonna Give You Up" A zombie choir -> "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (again, part of the video) ...and the connection is literal videos. For anyone interested, "Take on Me" was the first literal video, and "Total Eclipse" is by far the best (and most popular). Some of my other favorites, other than the three I clued to (sadly, some of these have been banned from YouTube): The Safety Dance (the first one I ever saw) We Didn't Start the Fire Losing My Religion We Built This City Ghostbusters Making Love Out of Nothing at All I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That) Billie Jean among others. And the title (A Fish Driving in the Dark) led to "mullet with headlights," which is a line taken directly from the Total Eclipse literal video. Excellent job, Woodworm, and excellent job, all. |

Ah, ok. I only know the Total Eclipse one, but it would work nicely for that one on its own. The comic book could certainly be the Ninjas (Ref. the Ninja Turtles), and the 'two of me', apart from the 'meme' idea, could be the two Bonnie Tylers who face each other pretentiously in the video. Good fun. |

You know, your connections are a lot better than mine =) Though I always assumed when the two Bonnie Tylers faced each other, it was just one leaning up against a mirror. Oh, and the link to the Total Eclipse literal video. |

Hey I just spotted this puzzle . When I first posted "Connections" I anticipated a flood of similar themed efforts. None appeared until now so thank you Balin for resurrecting (hopefully) this style of puzzle. They can be quite lateral IMHO. Anyone else out there got one? |

Peter - thanks for the compliments. Hope the video gave you a good laugh or two (or three, or four, or...you get the drift). Thinking about it, if I were to do this puzzle again, I would have used just the Total Eclipse literal video for the connections, with the clues being "Many happy days, a TV spin-off in hell, and a fish driving in the dark" (clueing to the army of Fonzie clones, Glee Club of the Damned, and a mullet with headlights, respectively). Although if I could have come up with a clue for the Hogwarts/Lord of the Flies gag, I would have probably used that. |
