I apologize for any bad rhymes...

There once was a nice young boy
Who to his family brought much joy
But ere a score of years had passed
Their lad had left this world, alas

'Twas very sad for King and Crown
To have their littlest boy brought down
But perhaps, the superstitious claim
His name was the cause of all the pain

The boy was cursed with malady
Beyond attending physicians' ability
To cure; and still is, to date
I do hope I shall not share his fate...

So you do say this boy's a prince,
Before th'events that happened since?
Is this a tale that's true, I ask,
Or from imagination hatched?

When this here world he did depart,
Was he a teen of growing heart?
Or was he still a child, perchance,
Who died before he wore the pants?

His name - his first? His last? Or both?
Was his name given through an oath?
Or was he named for someone else
With reputation beyond help?
Or of such pure and holy fame
That 'twas forbidd'n to have his name?

Your rhyme is much better than mine. :-p
I do say this boy's a prince
Before the events that happened since.
The tale is true, indeed;
'tis not my own mind grown the seed.

He was a teen, but had not been long,
'Twas ere fourteenth birthday, all went wrong.
The name was first, and given at birth
Borne by many men of worth

Though many men of royal line
Who've borne this name have not done fine.
One such alone has borne the crown
And his fame is of evil renown.

A question that I know I had,
Was this boy named for his dear dad?
His father was the king, you say?
Was he the one of evil ways?

To find the place, may I infer,
On which cont'nent did this occur?
[If so, insert LTPF
List of land on tectonic shelves.]

And Kaylee, please, do not despair,
Your rhymes excel, in perfect pairs.

{The boy was not named for his dad,
Though one of his godfathers, it was said
His father was indeed the king,
Evil ways were not his thing.

You may invoke list LTPF
To help you find tectonic shelf.
The continent was Europe, and if I may
Deliver country for free, 'twas UK.}

O Balin, thank you for your praise
Your puzzles and solutions never fail to amaze.

I've no idea where the bold went
Perhaps it felt its time was spent.

If the mods to fix it will agree,
The puzzle will look fine to me.

Was the lad's name John? I seem
To recall him the only, I deem
A man of evil reputation
Though indeed so high a station.

Was it his name that cursed the boy?
Though his birth should bring much joy?
Is it said that none of the name
Shall ever come to greater fame?

You say you fear to join his fate.
Is this possible? Can you state
That someday you too might take ill,
Share the sorrows, or pay the bill?

In what century lived the teen?
Tell us, for to make the scene.
Of chronic illness did he ail?
Or did accident cause his heart to fail?

The lad's name was Prince John, tis true
You recollect well, friend Jenburdoo
It seems the name is indeed a curse
For every Royal who bore it takes turns for the worse.

I fear to join his fate, 'tis so
Though less likely for me that I should go
From this life in the way he had
Though the illness we share; it makes me sad.

The Prince's century was twentieth, to be clear
Of chronic illness he died, I fear
Accident there was none, he died quite ill
It was not a heart's seizure that fit the bill.

This illness that did end Prince John,
Was it the brain that it worked on?
Did it affect the muscles? Nerves?
Perhaps an organ went to curves?

Or did was this plague perhaps within
The bones? The blood? Or just the skin?
His illness - could we call it "plague"?
Or has it other names not vague?

O Balin, your guess is not in vain
The malady indeed affected nerves and brain
This illness a plague I would not call
For contagious it was not at all

There is yet another word for it
Which I have given, if your keen wit
Shall to Jenburdoo's answer apply
Your fine and quite discerning eye.

Did this fine unlucky bloke
Die simply of a massive stroke?
Or, to pass this time of leisure,
Did he die due to a seizure?

A seizure was the cause indeed
And with that answer all you need
Has been unearthed; But I'll ask for fun
Can you guess just which King's son?

I did just notice in my read,
You share John's condition, it seems.
So in a pause, I interject,
And ask you this: is that correct?
If so, I place you in my prayers,
For having this must be a scare.

'Tis true, friend Balin, I do share
Prince John's condition. Epilepsy can cause a scare
But the seizures I have are controlled
Though no cure there is, I do hope hold
I shall not depart this life
In mental struggle and nervous strife.

Though of the English kings I know
Not a whole lot, the Net does, though.
So I used Wikipedia
To answer this sole need-i-a.

Since I used outside sources, I'm
Not sure if from this, I'd resign.
Now you're the one who's had to toil,
So I ask you now: should I $poyle?

My dear Balin, I bear no ill will
That Wikipedia was used to spill
The answer to my last little question
For in truth you found the right direction

And solved the puzzle in its entirety
The last bit was just to amuse me.
Go ahead and $poyle the puzzle
Perhaps next I shall try an Idiomuzzle.

All righty then, the answer's this:
Prince John was son of George the Fifth.
Queen Mary was his mother dear,
And that's the last bit of this here.

I'll say that's all that we have heard,
And Kaylee can post the big word
That starts with S and rhymes with "boiler"
And you all know that word is...

Nice work, Kaylee, 'twas a good one,
And I did have a lot of fun.
Can't wait for your next puzzle now,
And how to solve? I wonder how.
