Is it Hebrew? I doubt it, but it would give the story an interesting twist.

It #2 = #3 = It #1 being Hebrew

Christmas relevant? See next. A Christmas carol relevant? A Christmas Carol relevant? Yes! Christmas is relevant as a peripheral of the story. No actual carols are relevant.

Any Christmas traditions relevant? Christmas stories? Aside from the story A Christmas Carol no traditions/stories are relevant. Some knowledge of the story is relevant, and therefore I will allow you to use any available sources. And I was curious earlier, so I tried to see if there were any places that found the same connection I'm referring to, and there aren't.

Any particular characters in ACC relevant? Yes. To spare you the LTPF list Jacob Marley, and to a lesser extent, Scrooge. Events? Only those interactions between Marley and Scrooge. Quotes? No.

Marley's existence as a ghost relevant? His chains? His apparition in the door knocker? These are all somewhat relevant, at least from my knowledge of the story's plot, which amounts to reading the Wikipedia entry and watching my sister's high school drama club play of it a couple years ago. Although I know enough about it to understand the connection that I am referring to in this puzzle. However, there is another, more important relevant aspect of Marley that connects everything (and then makes the connection to the Hebrew as well). And it's a very basic aspect.

Bob Marley relevant? Some famous person with the last name Marley? Someone Jewish with that last name? No to all. Hint: Some knowledge of the Hebrew language is relevant. Since most people here probably don't have that, I'll just say to think of Marley's relationship with Scrooge throughout the novel.

As business partners? Marley's role as "warning person" to Scrooge?

Would any words extrapolated to English from Yiddish be of assistance? Would the Hebrew alphabet help? The Hebrew calendar?

As business partners? no. Marley's role as "warning person" to Scrooge? Be more specific. But his role as "warning person" is definitely relevant.

Would any words extrapolated to English from Yiddish be of assistance? Would the Hebrew alphabet help? The Hebrew calendar? None of these, although Hebrew calendar could be laterally helpful if you are quite knowledgeable of it, though most people that knowledgeable wouldn't need the calendar to get the fact they need.

As a prophet of sorts? Announcing the upcoming visions? No, but you're on the right track. As a hint, try to find out how the Hebrew language is relevant. Even if you don't speak Hebrew, at least now you'll know better what you're looking for.

Are Hebrew holy days relevant? No

Spoken Hebrew relevant? Written Hebrew? The Hebrew language in general. I suppose it would apply just as much whether spoken or written. Though the connection would be somewhat more apparent when spokenl. That Hebrew is read from right to left? No.

Does a certain Hebrew word sound like "Marley"? Yope to Yesish, you're on the right track

Could you please recap? There is something relevant (actually this may not be the best way to describe it, but I won't say more because that would give something away that you haven't established yet) of the A Christmas Carol character Jacob Marley, which relates to Marley's surname (Marley) and the Hebrew meaning of "Marley" is relevant, though to describe it as a "word" is only partially correct. The relevant meaning (once again, "meaning" may not be entirely correct, but you'll need to establish something else to figure out why) of "Marley" relates to the character's role ("role" isn't the best way to describe it easier, for the same reason that "meaning" isn't entirely correct) and specifically his relationship with Scrooge. I think we've covered just about everything. You might want to address the confusion regarding "role", "meaning", etc. This will also mostly (but not entirely) clear up the yesish/yope to the above question.

Is a Hebrew word similar to "Marley" relevant? In pronunciation? Spelling? Is the English meaning of "Marley" relevant? Hebrew meaning? There is a Hebrew word pronounced "Marley" only with the accent on the second syllable. There is also a Hebrew phrase "Mar Lee" (two words). They would both be pronounced like "Marley" except for the accent. Their spellings are not relevant, but their meanings are. And I'm not sure if we're going to be playing random guess game at this point so I'll see how it goes.

Not very nice, then... Indeed. I may $poyle this in a few days if nobody gets it because it's going to turn into 20 Questions of sorts. As a note, the "Marley" with one word would really not be used in Modern Hebrew as it uses a Biblical Hebrew grammatical convention. However, keep in mind that Modern Hebrew as spoken in Israel today didn't exist until settlers began to resettle the area, which was after the story was written. The two word "Mar Lee" could be used in either Biblical or Modern Hebrew, if I remember correctly.

Ok, this is futile. Unless anybody speaks Hebrew, you're not getting it. So I guess it's time for the

****SPOILER****

Hebrew phrase "Marley" written as one word is Biblical Hebrew for "my teacher", as in Marley teaching Scrooge the err of his ways. But as two words, it means "Bitter to me", which definitely also applies in this case. Good job everyone. I have a new puzzle coming out now.
