Was the first sinking an accident? An experiment? A normal procedure? (since after all submarines are ships that 'sink' in their normal operation) Same questions for the subsequent sinkings. Did the people on the first submarine die? Did any from the second set? All? |

Is the idea that the techniques which were supposed to make the Titanic "unsinkable" weren't pursued after its high-profile sinking, leading to lots of other ships in the future being more sink-able than they otherwise would have been? |

Rbruma, * * * SPOILER * * * Sonar relevant? Correct. After the sinking of the Titanic sonar tchnology was developed for the purpose of detecting icebergs. It was then adapted by the Admiralty to detect submarines and it was used to great effect in WWII to help sink many German U-Boats. |
