Does this Special Day happen every year? Or it happened only once?
Was this day special because of something that happened? because of the meal?
The meal: at home? in the restaurant? other place?
Time and location relevant?

*************** SPOILER ***************

it was indeed - and as naan means bread, you don't need to say naan bread as it's like saying bread bread

Hee Hee . Despite not knowing that Naan meant bread and also spelling it incorrectly I'm really chuffed with that solve.

Did this meal actually happen? That would have been a delightfully eccentric thing to organise.

Great puzzle in any case.

We were talking on another forum about the day's date, 11.1.11. This went on to somebody saying that a friend organised that meal. No idea whether it's true or not, but the fact that you worked it out is good enough for a puzzle! Good teamwork as well.

I'm never sure whether to put a correct spelling out there when somebody spells it differently. Am I being nitpicky? If it's an Americanism opposed to a Britishism then I won't change it, but I suppose I thought that somebody might come along and correct me! As for naan meaning bread I just remember that from somewhere in the ether. Useful for pub quiz questions!

But I loved the way that I could see you actually working it out. Glad you enjoyed it.
