A man is driving when he rolls down his window partway. Seconds later, he rolls it back up. Why? |

my dad, my dad's ick girlfriend, and I went through a wild animal park near Yellowstone. I forget the name...something to do with bears, I think. Anyway, there's part you can drive through. The rules are: Do not feed the animals. Do not get out of the car. Do not roll down the windows. Guess what. Lory (the ick girlfriend) DID ALL THREE THINGS. We had a bear come straight up to the window and she got a picture of it when it nearly ate her face. |

The object that passed through the window, was smaller that: a nail head? golf ball? tennis ball? baseball? Did he throw the object through the window? Or the object passed through the window by itself? Could his action be considered a minor offence, like littering? |

Was he driving at walking speed? At a speed that's acceptable in town? At a speed that's acceptable on a highway? Was the object any part of his body? Or someone else's body? Arm? Hand? Head? Did he reach for something? Did somebody give him anything? Is the country relevant? The state? The type of street? The reason why the man was driving in the first place? His occupation? Was the vehicle in motion all the time? Or did it stop when the object came through? The vehicle: A regular car? A van? A truck? A bus? Some sort of vehicle that you wouldn't normally find on a regular street? |

Was the object traveling from inside to the outside of the car? The other way around? Inside to outside, then back in. Was he driving at walking speed? At a speed that's acceptable in town? At a speed that's acceptable on a highway? Irrel - assume at town speeds. Was the object any part of his body? Yes Or someone else's body? Arm? This... Hand? ...and this Head? Did he reach for something? Yes Did somebody give him anything? No Is the country relevant? The state? The type of street? The reason why the man was driving in the first place? His occupation? All are irrel Was the vehicle in motion all the time? Yes Or did it stop when the object came through? So no The vehicle: A regular car? This A van? Although I'm not sure if it could be this A truck? It might be able to be this A bus? Not this though Some sort of vehicle that you wouldn't normally find on a regular street? Probably not - assume it's just an ordinary car. Just to confirm - the window that was rolled down is part of the vehicle he is driving? Yes You never know, after all this IS lateral puzzles, lol Touche. =) |

Did he, at some point, have something in the hand that he held out? If so, was his hand empty at first and he grabbed the item while his hand was outside? Or was something put into his hand? Or was his hand full at first and he gave/threw the item away? Or did he just try to catch something? Are other persons relevant? Did he hold out his hand just to feel the air for some reason? Maybe making sure if it rains because it's not really visible? |

So, is it right to assume that he opened the window, put his hand outside the window (empty handed), grabbed something on the outside of the car, did whatever he did with it, then he retracted his arm, also empty handed? Did he try to remove something from the outside of a car? From the windshield? |

Wing Mirror? No, but see below Did he adjust an antenna? YES! Something on the car door? Did he push in a radio antenna? or pulled it out? This! ( for example, before or after driving through the car wash ) **********SPOILER********** The man was driving down the street listening to his car radio. He heard the music coming in crackly and realized he'd forgotten to extend his car antenna, so he rolled the window down a bit, reached out, extended the antenna, pulled his arm back, and rolled the window back up. All in just a few seconds. (Autobiographical? It is.) Nice simultaneous solve, Doriana and Emeraldink. And props to all of you who worked on this. |
