So you both left and some point turned around, right? Did you go to your point of departure? To the same town/city/village from where you left? Did either of you ask for help from a mechanic? Is anyone else relevant to this puzzle? If so, H?A?M? More than one?

Did he decide to go back? Did you? Relevant?

Let me get this straight: you and your fiancee go on a trip to visit a relative; at some point, you turn around, while still in the city. Correct?

Wild guess: did you follow a map and mistakenly went into the opposite direction? (South versus North, for example?)

Was his decision to turn back justified? Did you agree on that? Relevant?

Relevant why you were anxious to be on time?

Did either of you receive a message from the person you were trying to reach saying that he will not be available?

Relevant when you left? If so, in the morning? Afternoon? Evening? In the middle of the night?

Let me get this straight: you and your fiancee go on a trip to visit a relative; at some point, you turn around, while still in the city. Correct? generally yes, but it's more to "turning around"

Wild guess: did you follow a map and mistakenly went into the opposite direction? (South versus North, for example?) no, we know the way and we didn't use map

Was his decision to turn back justified? yes Did you agree on that? yes Relevant? only that it was the only reasonable thing to do

Relevant why you were anxious to be on time? no, that is my general anxiety about sticking to the plan

Did either of you receive a message from the person you were trying to reach saying that he will not be available? no, that's not the case. Of course we had to contact our relatives and tell them about delay

Relevant when you left? we left in fact twice... If so, in the morning? initial plan was this, as a result we departed at noon Afternoon? Evening? In the middle of the night?

Is it relevant how far you had come on your journey before you turned around?

Oh, just a passing thought. Because you rushed him to leave as early as possible, did you fiance forget to bring something important? Like something he had promised to buy for his grandpa? Or something he had borrowed from him and was going to return that day?

RECAP:
Last Sunday my fiance and me were going to another city to visit my fiance's grandpa. Due to my anxiety to leave early (the details are still to be determined), we departed 1,5 hours late.
You established so far that we were yopishly going to another location in our city, that we made also another relevant plan, that something was yopishly wrong with the car, although it worked properly, had enough gas and didn't run out of battery. You know also that we had to go back home, and it was only reasonable thing to do, however nothing important was forgotten from or about the house. The scenario couldn't have happened if we had already left our home city. The situation involves forgetting and yesishly locking something that shouldn't have been locked (although the latter will need clarifying).

Is it something you had with you? Like a suitcase that was locked and you had to go back to get the key? Or a part of the car?

Rbruma:
Did you lock the keys of the car in the car? YES! You've got it! Like leaving them in the trunk and closing the decklid with them inside?

So, what was the whole story and how it has to do with my eagerness to leave early?

Were the keys in the ignition while locked in the car? Did you leave the car idling? And accidentally locked the car?

Were either of you locked in the car with the keys? no, we were outside the car Were you unable to remove the keys to unlock the car? the keys were locked inside the car... Or did you just forget they were in the ignition? that was rather a question of habits, my fiance usually locks all the door besides his one from inside, not to run around the car locking doors

Did you have the spare keys at another location? If this is so, is the following sequence of events correct:

1. You decide to leave by car to another city
2. Somehow before leaving you manage to lock the keys in the car
3. You travel by public transport to another location where you keep the spares
4. You take them, return to your car and finally set off for the journey you originally planned 1.5 hours late

Were you anxious to leave early because of the traffic? And finally you failed to avoid it?

Is it relevant whose car it was? Yours? His?
Whose house you left? Yours? His?

Is where you stopped relevant? If so, his or your house? A public place?
Is reason for stopping relevant? If so, to buy something? do something there? obtain something? drop something off?

Larru:
Is it relevant whose car it was? Yours? His? no, it's not really relevant. It's his, by the way
Whose house you left? Yours? His? ours, irrelevant

Is where you stopped relevant? not really, only the fact of stopping and that we had to go outside was relevant If so, his or your house? A public place? it was cemetery, by the way
Is reason for stopping relevant? If so, to buy something? do something there? this, light a candle obtain something? drop something off?

The story is pretty much complete, only element missing is what I did in order to leave early, what was later an excuse for mindless locking the keys inside the car

I think I'm missing something here... did your fiance lock his own door from the inside (I suppose with the door open :-) and then exited, shut the door and it remained locked? And the fact that he locked the door from the inside has something to do with something that you did to leave early?

Did you both walk to the cemetery? Did you forget to take cigarettes, so while he was waiting in the car, he had to go to buy some? Or you put something in the trunk and he had to go outside and retrieve the thing? Did you both exited the car at approx. the same time?

Is it correct that the locking system is fully manual, so in order to lock the doors one must either go around and lock them with a key or else physically press the buttons of each door from the inside?

Did you get off first? Did he? Relevant?

Did you both walk to the cemetery? yes Did you forget to take cigarettes, so while he was waiting in the car, he had to go to buy some? no Or you put something in the trunk and he had to go outside and retrieve the thing? no Did you both exited the car at approx. the same time? yes

HINT: you know all you need to know about the car. What can one possibly say as an excuse for upsent-mindedly locking the keys inside the car?

RECAP:
My fiance and me wanted to visit my fiance's grandpa who lives in another city. We planned to leave by car at about 10 a.m. In order to keep the plan, I did something ordinary which everyone does if he wants to leave early. On the way, but still within the city, we took the stop at the cemetery, to light a candle at my little sister's grave. When we came back to the car, it turned out that all the four car doors are closed while the keys are in ignition. We had to go by public transport back home, take the spare keys and go back to the cemetery and the car. That all resulted in a delay of 1,5 hours. And as I expressed my annoyance about how one can lock the keys in the car, my fiance referred to the thing I did in the morning, saying that if I hadn't done that, he wouldn't have locked the keys inside the car.

Did you wake up early? YES! You've got it! Set your alarm clock earlier?

*****SPOILER**********
My fiance and me wanted to visit my fiance's grandpa who lives in another city. We planned to leave by car at about 10 a.m. My fiance claims he likes to wake up early, so he set his alarm clock on 7.00. I woke him up finally at 8.30 and he really didn't want to get up. I baked the cookies for grandpa and we left about 10.00 am. On the way, but still within the city, we took the stop at the cemetery, to light a candle at my little sister's grave. When we came back to the car, it turned out that all the four car doors are locked while the keys are in ignition. We had to go by public transport back home, take the spare keys and go back to the cemetery and the car. That all resulted in a delay of 1,5 hours. And as I expressed my annoyance about how one can lock the keys in the car, my fiance said simply: If only you had let me sleep half an hour longer...

And for those wondering how one can lock the keys inside the car... The back door of our car can be locked while open, without using the keys. You simply press the tiny black button and shut the door, and they are locked. The front doors cannot be shut like this, just for nobody can lock the keys inside the car. However, they can be locked from inside while closed. My fiance has a habit of locking as many doors as possible without using the keys. That day I got out of the car and he - still inside - locked passenger's front door. Then he opened the back door from driver's side, because he put the candle on the back seats. While in the back, he locked the front driver's door from inside, then locked the back door while open and simply shut them. And that's the whole story.
