Jai had been looking forward to Tuesday for a long time. Sadly he never made it; he died on Monday. Had he died on Tuesday, Raj would have gotten nothing. Why? |

Sorry, of course Jai died on Monday. So, was the thing Jai was waiting for connected with gaining a financial benefit? Is this relevant that there is a rule in some countries that murderer does not inherit after a victim? |

Redwine Sorry, of course Jai died on Monday. No worries. Funny enough, I originally wrote this without the specific day names but thought that would be too confusing. Ha! So, was the thing Jai was waiting for connected with gaining a financial benefit? No Is this relevant that there is a rule in some countries that murderer does not inherit after a victim? This rule is not relevant. Sundowner Does now Raj receive what otherwise Jai would have got? NO! Good Q Or somebody else would have got? Yes... Or did Raj have it already before Jai died? No, he did not. and now does not have to hand it over to Jai? No Or would nobody get anything if Jai died on Tuesday? Someone not in the puzzle would get something. Let's call him Mohinder. Life insurance relevant? No Did Jai have a life insurance that ended Monday 12:00 pm? with Raj as beneficiary? No to both (So much criminal energy ..) On the forum? Or in this puzzle? |

Mohinder -- is he a brother of Raj? Stepbrother? Otherways related to Raj? Does his age matter (is relevant) to the puzzle? Some laws about the first born in a family? I am unsure if these have been asked: True story? Country relevant? Period relevant? |

Were Raj and Mohinder "competitors" for inheritance after Jai? Did law of inheritance change on Tuesday? Did Raj want Jai to die ON MONDAY? |

Rbruma Mohinder -- is he a brother of Raj? No Stepbrother? No Otherways related to Raj? NO! Does his age matter (is relevant) to the puzzle? Mohinder's? Not at all. Some laws about the first born in a family? No, but this has shades of OTRT I am unsure if these have been asked: They have not and should be. Well done! True story? Yes Country relevant? YES! Period relevant? Not terribly but it happened within the last 5 years. Redwine Did Jai make a will? Irrelevant. Did someone else make a relevant will? All wills are irrelevant. Jai had an anniversary on Tuesday, correct? Yes Was it wedding anniversary? No Family anniversary? No Any professional anniversary? Yes! Were Raj and Mohinder "competitors" for inheritance after Jai? No Did law of inheritance change on Tuesday? No Did Raj want Jai to die ON MONDAY? YES and, as previously discovered, he made sure Jai did by having him killed. |

So for Raj it was relevant that Jai dies while still holding a particular job? Would it help to find out what Jai's job was? Did Jai die in his workplace? Relevant? Did Raj, as son of the deceased, get access to Jai's workplace? which he otherwise would not have got? Did he get access to information? Did he take over Jai's job? YES!! Did Jai work in a private business? No in a government or public institution? Yes, government. did he run his own business? No Would Raj have had no chance to get Jai's job once the job was free after Jai's retiring? Yes! if so: any (anti-)discriminatory policy relevant? did Raj belong to the wrong caste? Irrelevant I think we have enough for a ****** SPOILER ****** Blood Is Thicker: In Bihar state, India, a man was charged with having his father killed a day before retirement so that the son might "inherit" his government job via the traditional family-hardship policy. (If Dad had retired, the regular hiring process would have been used to find a replacement.) [Reuters, 6-3-08] |
