Is "it" an animal? a machine? Is the sandwich a literal one? that is actually edible? or is it rather metaphorical? (for example an arrangement of game pieces, words, etc.) |

Did you put the sandwich in there? Well, as it was only a yesish "sandwich", no. And it would be more correct to say I put the yesish sandwich on the machine's primary component, after which the machine subsequently swallowed it (much to my annoyance) |

Did it get stuck at the other end of the conveyor belt? (I can't think of how that could happen though...) it did, because the opening was too wide, and the conveyor belt, going back through the slot that is the twin of the one by the scanner, carried the yesish sandwich under with it. |

BLOOPER...no, of course the end with the scanner is the right end, and Kaylee kitteh haz not had her cheezburgur for the day *facepalm* Forget the negative answer to the previous, but proceed as above. Clearly I'm misremembering the incident. It was after the food got scanned, though, and before it got bagged. |

Hm, was it a prepackaged sandwich kit? something of the kind; it was a pouch of premade tuna salad, and that will do for a ***SPOILER*** When my mom and I went to the supermarket last night, one of the things I selected was four packages of tuna salad. Three of the packages sailed merrily down the conveyor belt, across the scanner and down the remainder of the belt to where the bagger was waiting to put them away. The fourth one, however, made it across the scanner in safety and then, just as it reached the end of the belt, slid through the crack where the belt vanished back underneath, and fell down inside. Upon seeing this, I exclaimed in disbelief, "It ate my sandwich!" Pausing, I then observed "Well, it's not even a sandwich yet, as the bread's right there!" The multigrain bread, of course, had no trouble with the belt, and made the trip safely. Luckily, there's a door that can be unlocked below the conveyor belt, and the tuna was retrieved...but it appeared to be a different brand than the other three. Obligingly, the bagger traded it for the correct package of tuna, ensuring both that the tuna salad pouches were all the same, and that I wasn't going to eat from a package that had been eaten by the conveyor belt...sealed or not. Well done Biograd and Doriana, especially Doriana kitteh for the solve. |
