When he is full, he decides to eat no more. Then, he decides to eat just a little bit more. He puts something into his mouth. Then, he takes it back out. His wife thinks nothing of this behavior and starts the dishes. Why would she be concerned? The man hasn't changed his mind even once! |

Can we call him Al? Are Al and his wife in their home? Is this relevant? Any other relevant people there? Is the thing he puts into his mouth the same thing he takes back out? Has there been any change to the item between those two actions? Does your puzzle statement imply she SHOULD be concerned? Or simply that she sees nothing unusual in this action? Is it something he has done before? Often before? Something he does often after meals? Does he do this at any other time? Is what they had for dinner relevant? |

Is the object any kind of dental appliance? Is the object intended to be put in the mouth? And then removed? Do most people own one of these objects or are they unusual? Did the couple eat with anyone else? Did they have meat for dinner? Pasta? Salad? Soup? Sandwiches? Did more than 10 seconds pass between when he decided to eat no more and when he decided to eat a little more? Does the wife ever put the same object in her mouth? Or another object like it? |

Is the object any kind of dental appliance? Nothing you would need a dentist for. Is the object intended to be put in the mouth? And then removed? Yes Do most people own one of these objects or are they unusual? Yes, common Did the couple eat with anyone else? Not relevant Did they have meat for dinner? Pasta? Salad? Soup? Sandwiches? Not entirely relevant. Did more than 10 seconds pass between when he decided to eat no more and when he decided to eat a little more? Not relevant. Assume 10 seconds passed. Does the wife ever put the same object in her mouth? Yes and No Or another object like it? Yes, more like this |

To help clarify: It is only somewhat relevant what they had for dinner. It is not important that you guess what it was, or that we ever find out. |

Did Al keep the object in his mouth for more than 10 seconds? Did Al throw away the object after taking it out of his mouth? If not, did he put it in his pocket? In a drawer? |

Did he floss? Is the objects made of [LTPF list of materials]? (Not sure if you're already familiar with this concept, an [LTPF list] is basically an imagninary list with all possible category members.) |

Wood I wasn't familiar with LTPF, so I'm glad you explained that. I hope I answered it appropriately. |

Did Al keep the object in his mouth for more than 10 seconds? Let's assume yes. 30 seconds, not entirely relevant. Did Al throw away the object after taking it out of his mouth? Yes, assume this If not, did he put it in his pocket? Possible, but assume no In a drawer? Unlikely |

The object was a toothpick; he dug out a bit of food that was stuck between his teeth, and that was the "little bit more" he ate. |

Yes, exactly! ******************************** Spoiler ******************************** After eating dinner with his wife, a man has some food stuck between his teeth. This little bit of food is removed with a toothpick, accounting for the "little bit more" that he ate. The toothpick is the object that goes in and comes back out of the mouth. A toothpick is a normal enough object, so of course his wife wouldn't be phased by this action at all. And, the man was far from indecisive with any of this. Good job everyone. I actually was surprised that this one went longer than my "Old Man's Occupation" one. I thought that one was tricky, and thought this one would be guessed right away. Especially after the first round of questions, I was thinking this one was horrible. Thanks for playing. |
