Devon - the English county?

I guess it's something someone says to someone else? Is the person who says it H/A/M?F? For the people who are addressed, [LTPF list of integers] please. H/A/M?F?

Time/location relevant? If so, the usual [LTPF lists] please.

Is this a true story? FYOI? FSEI?

Devon - the English county? indeed!

I guess it's something someone says to someone else? yes!Is the person who says it H/A/M?F? H/A/F, as it's me For the people who are addressed, [LTPF list of integers] please. H/A/M?F? Four H/A/Fs were there besides me, although Michelle really didn't need to be told this, she knew better, so I was only talking to Andrea, Christy, and Christy (oh, that was a problem. Christy from Michelle's work "Hospital-Christy" and Christy from Los Angeles "LA-Christy".)

Time/location relevant? If so, the usual [LTPF lists] please. Yesterday, 4 PM or thereabouts, at Michelle's house.

Is this a true story? Yes =D FYOI? FSEI?

Are Andrea, Christy and Christy all friends of yours?

Relevant what you were doing when you said this?

Would "acting like you're from Devon" mean behaving in an embarrassing way? an awkward way?

Are Andrea, Christy and Christy all friends of yours? Andrea is. I don't know Christy and Christy very well (I only met Hospital-Christy one time before, and this was my first time meeting LA-Christy) but they're all Michelle's friends. (Andrea was her next-door neighbor growing up, Hospital-Christy is her coworker, and LA-Christy was her roommate in college)

Relevant what you were doing when you said this? EXTREMELY relevant.

Would "acting like you're from Devon" mean behaving in an embarrassing way? Well, if you actually WERE from Devon, you wouldn't find this embarrassing, but depending on whose company you were in, performing this action in this particular way might prove so. an awkward way? See previous answer.

Putting milk in your tea relevant? Yes, although not necessarily to the Devon comment, which was more focused on... Dipping you pastry in the tea relevant? ...well, not this. Although that's probably frowned on generally, lol.

Cream teas? Is the order in which you add the cream and jam relevant (I believe one order is Devonish and one Cornish)? What about whether or not you add milk and sugar to the cup before or after you pour the tea?

Never thought I'd see my home county mentioned in a puzzle :-)

Cream teas? Yes! Is the order in which you add the cream and jam relevant (I believe one order is Devonish and one Cornish) YES!!? What about whether or not you add milk and sugar to the cup before or after you pour the tea? Oh, yes yes yes!!!

Never thought I'd see my home county mentioned in a puzzle :-) Oh, are you Devonish or Cornish then? =)

***SPOILER!!!***

What Enjay said - because my friend Emma is Cornish, she taught me the proper way to have tea and scones, the Cornish way. The proper way (Emma taught me) is to put the jam on the scone first, and then the clotted cream. (She nearly had an apopleptic fit when I, the ignorant American-born quarter-English girl tried reaching for the cream first. One of the surest ways to look like an idiot, or at least a foreigner, in Cornwall.)

Also, one adds the milk to the cup before the tea, and puts sugar in afterward. It is the way things are done.

Thanks for playing, Doriana kitteh and Enjay!!!

Devoner here - cream first all the way :P Sorry to spoil so quickly but I've had both arguments sooo many times! And I stand by tea first, milk and sugar second, though I don't know of that being a regional thing.

Well, I seem to have opened a can of worms here =P I don't know if there's any Cornish on this group, but I expect I'll find out sooner or later...

That's all right Enjay, even if you Devoners get your cream teas wrong, we're still all friends =D *gives Enjay-the-Devoner a hug*

Looks like I'm the perfect Devoner - I always put in the sugar first, than the tea and than the milk. And in Germany, we don't have scones with clotted cream and jam, but buns with quark (something in between clotted cream, cream cheese and yoghurt) and jam, and I usually put the quark on it first. :D

Interesting debate here. In Ireland we drink a ridiculous amount of tea and most people myself included would go Tea, Milk then sugar. In fact I hate when people put the milk in first.

This reminds me of a nice bit of dialogue from a sitcom set in a police station called "The Thin Blue Line"

Detective Inspector Grimm : "Kray, get me the Home Office on the phone, call the Anti Terrorist Squad and get me a cup of tea with milk and two sugars"

Constable Kray : "In which order sir?"

Grimm : "For God's sake Kray where were you dragged, up it's milk first then tea then sugar".

bahaha! =D *grins at the debate I started* I do love a good debate. And I'm going to have a cup of tea later, and put milk in it first, obviously. =P But for now, I've decided that I got up too early after being up too late, and another hour or so of sleep would be beneficial. *yawn*
