A variant on the neologism puzzles: this one takes an existing term and provides a new definition for it.

About a month-and-a-half ago I went somewhere; while I was there, I saw something that I immediately began calling "The Battlements."

What is "The Battlements"?

"went somewhere"

IRL? virtual? dream? true story?
'went' = actual physical distance?
indoors? outdoors?

was what you saw a natural phenomenon (mountains, clouds, etc.)? the features that prompted the name in your mind, are they homogeneous (all comprising a single thing or multiples of the same type of thing); or heterogeneous (comprising many different things, which in combination sparked the "battlements" name)?

Was what you saw permanent? ephemeral?

If I went to the same somewhere, would I see the same something?

Might I be inclined to call it the same term?

Was there a reason you needed to give it a name? Did you have to talk about it? Or was the 'calling' just in your head?

Was it in an urban setting? Important to know the exact locale?

Were "the battlements" smaller than a matchbox? smaller than breadbox? smaller than an automobile?
bigger than a cottage?

Did "the battlements" resemble (to you) battlements? In form? function? Other characteristic?

Was there anything like a siege going on -- anything analogous to a siege?

Were you being bombard from the wall (e.g., by pigeons, mosquitoes...)?

Did the wall have a moat in front of it?

Was it a stadium or similar?

Did the "battlement" impression stem from the arrangement of hometown fans vs. visitor fans? (I think not, based on "Were other people around? Relevant? Yes and Yes, but not to the reologism")

Anything to do with signage? Scoreboards? Concessionaires? Advertising? Crowd control? Pennants?

Were you at a baseball game?

Some stadiums have a roof. relevant?
Retractable roof?

Some stadiums have higher walls than others, facing the playing area (e.g., Fenway's Green Monster). Relevant?

Is the structural part in question visible from the seating area? A particular part of the seating area?

Visible from outside the stadium, before entering?

Visible from the air?

Visible somewhere in the interior spaces (ramps, bathrooms, etc.)?

The wall of the upper deck? (thanks for the correction on terminology!) YES!!

**********SPOILER**********

The Battlements (n): the concrete wall at the back of the upper deck of a stadium.

I came up with this term when I went to a preseason game at Gillette Stadium (home of the Patriots), and my seats were in the last row of the upper deck. Observing the concrete wall brought to mind the stereotypical medieval queenly command "Throw him over the battlements!" and a reologism was born.

Nice work, everyone (Shez, Jvp, Kaylee, etc.); new puzzle below.

The Patriots won. I only stayed for the first half, though, as it was a late game and I had to be somewhere the next morning.

And you have no idea how tempted I was to throw some random object over the wall...
